Russians Eager To Invest In Art Says AAA

Alternative investment advocacy group, AAA (Alternative Asset Analysis) claims that Russia is an important market for anyone considering opting for investments in art and antiques to diversify their portfolios.

Boston, MA, USA, July 03, 2011 -- Alternative investment advocacy group, AAA (Alternative Asset Analysis) claims that Russia is an important market for anyone considering opting for investments in art and antiques to diversify their portfolios.

AAA’s statement on the subject follows reports that a major British art consultancy called Art Market Research (AMR), is to offer its services in Russia due to the growth in the market there. The consultancy firm has produced market analysis reports and indexes to illustrate the rise and fall of the market for art and antiques. It also counts major auction houses in London, such as Christie’s and Sotheby’s as clients.

The consultancy’s director, Robin Duthy, said, "Russia is a country of vast opportunities. I am convinced of the great potential of its art market as well as in the swift development of the Russian banking system."

It has announced that it plans to team up with Russian partner Kollection after raising some EUR 500,000 to facilitate the expansion.

This is a clever move by AMR,” said AAA’s analysis partner Anthony Johnson. “A growing number of people are keen to invest in tangible alternative assets that allow them to rest assured that their money will not disappear in front of their eyes in the event of another economic crash.

The market for alternative investments in almost every form is growing and the art market is Russia looks to be particularly exciting new ground for investors who enjoy owning beautiful objects and investing in their future,” added Mr Johnson.

Russia’s appetite for high value art is being driven by the increasingly sophisticated and expensive tastes of its super-rich. They are demanding the same opportunities to invest in masterpiece paintings and antiques as their counterparts in London and at the moment, although they have far fewer auction houses offering this kind of investment, claimed AAA.

AMR’s Mr Duthy added that he is moving into the Russian market to offer the super-rich advice and guidance in terms of what makes a good deal, "I am certain there is a tremendous need for complex investment analysis in Russia's arts and antiques market,” he stated.
