Ten Thousand Waves by Douglas Grummons Released Worldwide In eBook and Print Book Formats

Action sports combines with spiritual adventure in Grummons' nonfiction book.

Pearland, TX, USA (November 30, 2012) -- Douglas Grummons' Ten Thousand Waves takes the reader on a surfer's journey of riding waves and the fruits that come with them. It is an East meets West spiritual adventure.

Ten Thousand Waves is a true-life story of surfer Doug Grummons. The author rewinds his personal story back to the very first wave he ever stood up on. From that very first wave onward his life took a slightly different path. After a spiritual encounter on top of a mountain that left him amazed he found spirituality in many different forms. An extreme sports enthusiast, Doug uses his life stories as a surfer, snowboarder, skydiver, and aikidoist to illustrate his many perceptions. The author gives insights and explains who we are and why we are here living on this beautiful planet. "Life's greatest mysteries come to the surface of consciousness by falling in love with the ocean," he said.

As a surfer who meditates and studies the ways of the East, Doug lays out the basics of Eastern thought in easy to understand explanations. Grummons takes Zen into new territory in what he calls Extreme Zen. Doug coined the term one day while skydiving to describe the experience of bringing mind, heart, soul, and body together in all his passions. Grummons explains, "True liberation is not to be free from the wheel of life and death. True liberation is to be free from liberation itself."

Ten Thousand Waves by Douglas Grummons, published by First Edition Design Publishing http://www.firsteditiondesignpublishing.com, is available in eBook form and as a 134 page softcover print book ISBN 978-1622872275. It is available on-line wherever books are sold.

About the author:

Douglas Grummons was born an Air Force sergeant's son who followed in his father's footsteps by joining the Air Force himself. At every base he was stationed Doug picked up martial arts training. It was from Doug's martial art training that led to his discovery of the ways of the East. After his honorable discharge from the service he picked up surfing as well as many other extreme sports passions. Through his passions and meditations he developed Extreme Zen, an advanced form of meditation first experienced while skydiving. Design-Build Institute of America Recognizes the Rosendin Electric and Hoffman Construction Design-Build Team for Work on the New Armed Forces Reserve Center at Camp Withycombe.

SAN JOSE, Calif. and HILLSBORO, Ore. (November 29, 2012) -- Rosendin Electric, the nation's largest private electrical contractor and a 100% employee-owned company, has received a 2012 National Design-Build Award in the Civic category from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) in recognition of support given to Hoffman Construction for the electrical design and construction of the new Camp Withycombe Armed Forces Reserve Center in Clackamas County, Oregon. In previous years, Rosendin Electric has been recognized for work on the Mineta San Jose International Airport, the Nogales International Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center, amongst other high-profile projects.

To be considered for a National Design-Build Award, a project must demonstrate the successful application of design-build best practices as defined by the DBIA Design-Build Manual of Practice. Best practices include bringing together key team members during the proposal process, as well as close coordination between design and construction team members from the design development stage through field construction and project completion.

The $72 million, LEED® Gold project was a new 250,000 square-foot Armed Forces Reserve Center, including 35,000 square-feet of vehicle storage and maintenance space, designed to support more than 1,300 soldiers in the Oregon National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve. The project included office suites, an assembly hall, conference and training rooms, a 400-seat auditorium, and electronic and static displays of military artifacts and campaign history to honor the soldiers of the 41st Infantry.

"This year's award for our work at Camp Withycombe is an honor and a testament to our design-build excellence which extends to all of our regional operations and projects," said Brian Ruffner, Business Development Manager for Rosendin Electric's Oregon office in Hillsboro.

T5 Data Centers New State-of-the-Art T5@LA Facility in El Segundo Is Now Server-Ready

New Purpose-Built Data Center Now Available for Lease for Business-Critical Enterprise Customers, First Lease Signed with L.A. Infrastructure Provider.

Los Angeles, CA, USA (November 29, 2012) -- T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable, and highly reliable computing support for any enterprise, today announced the completion and commissioning of its new T5@LA data center at 444 North Nash Street, El Segundo, California. The T5 team has successfully commissioned the first 3.7-megawatts (3.7 MWs) of what will ultimately be 16.65 MWs of critical power, so the new data center is ready for mission-critical operations for lease to enterprise customers.

In addition, T5 announced the signing of the first lease at T5@LA. The Los Angeles based critical infrastructure agency is the first enterprise customer and will occupy a custom-built data hall. They selected T5@LA because of the facility's seismic rating, dedicated power supply, and redundant systems that ensure uninterrupted service. They also selected T5 Data Centers because of the company's reputation for reliability and data security. Occupancy will be in 2013.

The new T5@LA data center is a purpose-built, 205,000-square-foot building on a 6.1 acre site. Designed as a high-quality, fully equipped wholesale data center, the facility is customizable to customer needs and features 120,000 square feet of raised floor. The building is built from structurally enhanced steel and has been designed to withstand earthquakes with a seismic importance factor of 1.5. T5@LA also has a dedicated, on-site power substation to ensure high reliability of electricity at a reduced "wholesale" cost.

"Los Angeles has been an underserved market for server-ready data center services" said Pete Marin, President of T5. "T5@LA is the first purpose built wholesale data center in the Los Angeles basin. We're seeing great demand for our high quality and super-efficient design."

The new T5@LA data center was designed for large enterprise customers seeking a customizable, "always-on" computing environment. The facility takes advantage of cool coastal air to help chill the data halls via an indirect evaporative process that uses approximately half the energy of traditional data center designs. T5 maintains round-the-clock engineering and support staff, as well as redundant systems to deliver the best service possible as well as peace of mind. The company already supports a number of Fortune 200 companies at its other data center facilities.

"We are very excited to welcome our first tenant to T5@LA," said Aaron Wangenheim Executive Vice President of T5, responsible for marketing and leasing. "T5@LA was chosen by this discerning customer because of our ability to deliver the right solution and the right efficiencies. Their critical applications required the most resilient data center possible, and we're excited to welcome them to T5@LA.”

10 Ways to Have an Energy Fit Holiday

The holidays can be an expensive time of year with plenty of gift giving, house guests and festive décor, making an impact on the wallet. While FPL customers already have the lowest energy bills in the state, the company is helping its customers make their bills even lower with 10 Ways to Have an Energy Fit Holiday.

Juno Beach, FL (November 28, 2012) -- The holidays can be an expensive time of year with plenty of gift giving, house guests and festive décor, making an impact on the wallet. While FPL customers already have the lowest energy bills in the state, the company is helping its customers make their bills even lower with 10 Ways to Have an Energy Fit Holiday.

"Getting ready for the holidays can require a lot of energy, but most people probably aren't thinking about the energy costs when it comes to entertaining, gift buying and decorating," said Tim Fitzpatrick, vice president of Marketing & Communication for FPL. "The holidays are all about traditions, so by adding these energy-efficient changes FPL customers can be energy fit for years to come."

1. Deck the halls with LEDs. When it comes to holiday lighting, LED lights are the bright choice to get you more for your money. The amount of power it takes to operate just one 7-watt incandescent holiday bulb could power two 24-foot LED strings - enough to light a six foot tree. Additionally, LED light strings last about 10 times longer.

2. Set time on your side. Set timers for your holiday displays to turn off before bedtime so there is no need to burn the lights all night long.

3. Switch your non-holiday lights. Before overnight guests arrive, switch out guest room and common area lighting to compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. Each CFL bulb you install will save you about $50 in energy costs over the life of the bulb.

4. Turn it off. Remind guests to turn off lights and fans when they leave the room. Stopping one ceiling fan from running all the time and turning at least one light off when you leave the room can save you more than $7 a month on your electric bill.

5. Stop peeking! Ovens lose a lot of heat when opened and require significant energy to heat back up to the appropriate temperature. Instead, when you have to sneak-a-peek, turn the oven light on and look through the interior window.

6. Choose glass or ceramic pans for the oven. These pans heat faster than metal ones and allow you to set the temperature 25 degrees lower than a recipe suggests for the same cooking time.

7. Don't forget your crock-pot. Use smaller appliances such as crock-pots, microwaves and toaster ovens when possible. These can be much more energy-efficient for side dishes or small meals.

8. Select energy-efficient electronics. When it comes to buying gifts for your loved ones, opt for a laptop computer over a desktop computer. Laptop computers require 50 to 80 percent less power than a desktop computer.

9. Let the star be your guide. Look for the ENERGY STAR logo when purchasing larger electronics or appliances. Newer ENERGY STAR models meet stricter requirements and can save up to 40 percent on energy over standard models.

10. Give the gift of light. Use solar-powered pathway or security lights for your home or as a gift to the person who loves being outside in the evening.

Impact Investing attracting more Fans, claims AAA

Leading fixed income impact investment management firm, Community Capital Management (CCM), has announced that it has invested $4 million on behalf of GIVE (AdvisorShares Global Echo ETF), in a move welcomed by AAA.

Boston, MA, USA, November 23, 2012 -- Leading fixed income impact investment management firm, Community Capital Management (CCM), has announced that it has invested $4 million on behalf of GIVE (AdvisorShares Global Echo ETF), in a move welcomed by Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA).

AAA, an alternative investment advocacy group, claims that the investment from GIVE further helps to promote the benefits of impact investing to all kinds of investors who want to see returns while helping vulnerable communities. GIVE was established in May and intends to deliver long-term returns through responsible, sustainable investments.

Various projects have benefited from the investment so far. "It's great to be able to learn about where this cash is going - the more people know about the benefits of impact investing, the more popular it will become," stated Anthony Johnson, AAA's analysis partner.

One of the investments made by CCM on GIFT's behalf took the form of funding for a 400,000 square foot retail/residential development in Maryland. The project will focus on attracting cyclists and pedestrians and will create 235 new apartments, as well as 60,000 square feet of retail space.

Another project funded by GIFT is the Hidden Creek Apartment in Crescent City, California, which will create low income housing. The homes will incorporate eco-friendly and energy efficient features.

CCM's senior portfolio manager, Barbara VanScoy, said that they too were very happy that more people are growing interested in impact investing. She said, "We are thrilled that the field of impact investing is expanding with new products like GIVE and that we can be a part of it."

AAA supports a range of ethical, sustainable and environmentally responsible asset classes. Mr Johnson explained, "We have noticed that, in the wake of the financial crisis, more and more investors are keen to put their cash into philanthropic projects or at least ensure their investments won't be having a negative impact on anyone."

AAA supports sustainable forestry projects like those run by Greenwood Management and others in Brazil.

Hanoi, Vietnam, November 23, 2012 -- Luxury Travel is positioning itself as the first luxury halal tour and holiday operator in Indochina.

Asia's economy is still healthy and intra-ASEAN travel is growing significantly. Arrivals from Malaysia and Indonesia to Vietnam have rebounded significantly in the past nine months thanks to more direct flights, and Luxury Travel Ltd. is reaching out to court Muslim tourists from these markets.

Luxury Travel Ltd. has a high end halal holiday concept and has just launched vietnamhalalholidays.com. This is a unique online brand, offering truly great holiday experiences with an Islamic ethos. The company's aim is to provide a holiday experience that is in harmony with Islam. Further, on some chartered cruises on Halong Bay, all food on board is sea food or halal food.

"The Muslim population within Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia shows immense potential. Demand from this segment is picking up and is expected to increase, thanks to direct flights between Southeast Asian countries, including the newest flight to HCM City from Jakarta four times per week. Also, no visa is needed for most citizens traveling between ASEAN countries." said Pham Ha, founder and CEO of Luxury Travel Ltd.

"In order to capitalize on these potential markets, we have launched a website, created special tours for Muslim travelers, worked with reputable halal food restaurants, searched out mosque locations and trained our staff in order to better serve Muslim travelers. We attend various travel trade shows in individual markets such as TTC Indonesia and Selangor Matta Islamic Travel Fair in Malaysia. We also plan to target India, Turkey, and the Middle East in the long run. And with nearly 1.6 billion Muslims in the world, the potential market is huge. We expect to receive 600-800 muslim travelers in 2013" added Ha.

According to Luxury Travel, about 23% of the world population is Muslim. Of these, around 62% live in Asia - Pacific, 20% in the Middle East- North Africa, 15% in Sub Saharan Africa, around 3% in Europe and 0.3% in the Americas.

The company has launched a new website http://www.vietnamhalalholidays.com and will launch a Vietnam guidebook for discerning travelers and focus on Muslim visitors. Plans are also in place to open a representative office in Jakarta, to act as a point of contact and information for Indonesian travel consultants and consumers. Luxury Travel is positioning itself as the first luxury halal tour and holiday operator in Indochina.

According to VNAT, during the first nine months of 2012, the number of visitors from Malaysia to Vietnam was 210,805, an increase of 125.4 per cent from the previous period.

Ha stressed that the number of tourist arrivals increased thanks to direct flights to Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi Minh City from Kuala Lumpur. The company enjoyed 30% percent growth in Central Vietnam, where Luxury Travel opened a new office a few month ago. The company will attend Selangor Matta Islamic Travel Fair in Malaysia from 7-9 Dec 2012.

FPL Gives Thanks to 50 Sanford Families with Free Home Energy Makeovers

"FPL customers have the lowest electric bills in the state, and these energy-efficiency tips will help them continue to save through the holidays," said Larry Volenec, FPL's external affairs manager.

Juno Beach, FL (November 21, 2012) -- Sanford residents have something extra to be thankful for, just in time for Thanksgiving. In partnership with the City of Sanford, Florida Power & Light Company provided 50 local families with free Home Energy Makeovers. FPL experts installed energy-efficient upgrades to help residents save money on their electric bill.

Approximately 60 energy experts from FPL and employee volunteers from the City of Sanford traveled through neighborhoods to deliver the gift of energy-efficiency upgrades to residents, saving these FPL customers up to 25 percent monthly on their electric bills.

Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett, Commissioner Velma Williams and the Goldsboro Front Porch Council of Sanford joined the FPL volunteers and helped out with energy-efficient upgrades as part of the Home Energy Makeover team. “Our partnership with FPL gives residents of Sanford access to the tools and information they need to learn to conserve energy and to save money,” Mayor Jeff Triplett said. “The Home Energy Makeover is a great way for Sanford residents to kick-off the holiday season with savings.”

Upgrades performed included: installing lifetime air conditioning filters, compact fluorescent lights, weather stripping, and water-saving showerheads and faucets, as well as inserting refrigerator and freezer thermometers.

FPL is proud to partner with the City of Sanford to educate residents on how to reduce their energy use and save on their monthly expenses,” said Larry Volenec, FPL’s external affairs manager. “Our energy-makeover team shared tips and advice on easy, low-cost improvements that can benefit all families throughout the service territory. FPL customers have the lowest electric bills in the state, and these tips will help them continue to save.”

Most of these energy-efficiency upgrades can be adopted by any FPL customer looking to make smarter, cleaner energy choices. Customers can learn about the improvements installed during Home Energy Makeovers by visiting the Energy Savings Toolkit section at http://www.FPL.com/ohes and taking a free, online Home Energy Survey.
