FRA: Saints latest to direct investment towards forestry

Forestry Research Associates has welcomed the reports that the Scottish American Investment Company has diversified from stocks and shares into forestry investment.

Seattle, United States, August 20, 2011 -- Forestry Research Associates has lauded the actions of the Scottish American Investment Company which has announced its diversification from purely stocks and shares into forestry investment.

The firm, which is known as Saints, is the latest of a procession of major investment firms to choose forestry investment as a way of diversifying funds.

Saints now has a far more diversified portfolio than many of its rival funds, with interests in debts, real estate and forestry. FRA’s analysis partner, Peter Collins, stated, “The decision to opt for more alternative investments is a wise move from Saints. Their fund is much less vulnerable to the variations in the equity markets, which, from recent experience, could make a fund considerably more attractive to investors."

Returns for investors are high and risk is lower than for similar products elsewhere. FRA explains that investing in forested land comes with minimal risk, as if the trees are worth less when they are at maturity, investors can simply hold onto them until timber prices rise. “In the meantime the trees continue to grow of course,” added Mr Collins.

FRA encourages investment in renewable forest schemes, such as the plantations scheme run by Greenwood Management in Brazil. Mr Collins added, “This investment opportunity is popular as it offers a direct investment opportunity, which means investors actually own a section of forest and will receive the value of the timber once fully grown.”

Figures also show that forestry investment can often result in better returns than stocks and shares can offer.

The news of the Saints’ decision to invest in alternatives follows news that several major pension funds are also opting to diversify into more alternative assets classes, such as precious metals, commercial property, forestry and even antiques and art. The move towards less emphasis on equities comes in response to pressure from investors who do not want to risk losing large amounts of money on stock market crashes.

Properly Hydrating Your Body: There's More To It Than Just Drinking Water

"Early on in our study of human diet, we often noticed that our personal hydration levels increased after consuming fruits and vegetables," say Dian Griesel, Ph.D., and Tom Griesel, co-authors of TurboCharged.

New York, NY, USA - August 20, 2011 -- Over the course of humanity’s evolutionary past, almost everything we ate had a very high percentage of water. For example, fruits, vegetables, eggs and raw animal protein are composed of somewhere between 70% to 96% water. The ramifications of this fact are worth examining.

Early on in our study of human diet, we often noticed that our personal hydration levels increased after consuming fruits and vegetables,” say Dian Griesel, Ph.D., and Tom Griesel, co-authors of TurboCharged: Accelerate Your Fat Burning Metabolism, Get Lean Fast and Leave Diet and Exercise Rules in the Dust (April 2011, BSH). “We observed this effect on a consistent basis, and we used to wonder why-particularly since we were drinking adequate amounts of water.”

In July 2009, the Daily Mail reported on a research study performed at the University of Aberdeen Medical School in Scotland. The study found that some fruits and vegetables might hydrate our bodies twice as effectively as a glass of water. This confirmed the Griesels’ observation about their hydration levels, and ensured that a focus on fruit and vegetable consumption was given a top spot in their TurboCharged program.

HIV Eradication Now and Then - Time to Take Action Toward an HIV Cure

With a combined effort and continued research the goal of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic seems more in reach when comparing HIV Eradication Now and Then. It will take an ongoing combined effort, but with continued research a cure could be near.

Toulon, France (August 20, 2011) -- When HIV/AIDS first began infecting people the likelihood of a cure seemed out of reach. Patients were treated and learned to live with the fact that they had a disease with no hope of restoral to health. Their illness was terminal and they faced a certain death from complications associated with the disease. In 1996, antiretroviral drugs were a new hope, not for a cure but to suppress the disease and give people a chance to live a longer more productive life with the illness. Researchers have discovered new treatments and have made strides when comparing the possibility of HIV Eradication Now and Then.

The promising outlook of successfully treating with antiretroviral drugs was short-lived as researchers discovered that what they called ‘reservoirs,’ which are places where the lingering virus lies in wait and emerge when the patient discontinues the drugs. The virus is then ready to flourish again attacking the CD4 immune cells. Research continues and the future looks a little brighter when comparing HIV eradication now and then, as the International AIDS Society and others have joined together once again in a renewed effort to find a cure for HIV/AIDS. The IAS continues to seek funding and support for cure-related science to continue.

The most recent research has brought about hope in the form of a functional cure, which means the virus is not totally eradicated from the body, but permanently suppressed. To suppress the virus would mean to stop replication and reduce the reservoirs, so that long-term remission of patients is possible. The IAS strategy is to raise awareness and obtain widespread support globally for the new research to address HIV persistence in some patients and further studies on the reservoirs. With a global outreach and support the realization of a cure or suppression is more promising when comparing HIV Eradication Now and Then.

Three main objectives exist in the research for HIV/AIDs. These objectives include recognition of the need for a safe HIV/AIDS therapeutic and preventive plan to help control the continuing AIDS epidemic, commitment to encourage a combination of both international and multidisciplinary research for an AIDS cure and encourage contributions for research from organizations, stakeholders and international leaders. With a combined effort and continued research the goal of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic seems more in reach when comparing HIV Eradication Now and Then. It will take an ongoing combined effort, but with continued research a cure could be near.

The remodeling and appointment are part of Rosendin Electric’s ongoing commitment to expand its regional operations in Las Vegas.

Rosendin Electric has just completed remodeling its regional office at 7470 Dean Martin Drive, Las Vegas. The new office layout includes a new conference room and other amenities, and will make it easier to accommodate an expanding workforce.

Since establishing itself in the Las Vegas market six years ago, Rosendin Electric has been active in a number of high-profile projects, including the construction of Terminal 3 (T3) at the McCarran International Airport and the CityCenter, Las Vegas. Rosendin Electric’s extensive project management and engineering experience on large-scale projects such as these have given them the necessary advantage to be awarded these contracts.

Heading up the Las Vegas operation will be Steve Braverman, who has assumed the role of Division Manager. Steve was initially named Project Executive for the McCarran T3 project and has had interim responsibility for management of the Las Vegas office. In addition to working on new projects in the local market, Steve and his team have also been successful in the construction of Rosendin Electric projects in California, Canada, and Guam.

Thanks to our work on both the McCarran T3 and the City Center, Las Vegas projects, we already have built a strong reputation in Las Vegas,” said Braverman. “Las Vegas promises to be a strong market for us, particularly with hotel remodeling and modernization projects. And this market is ripe for projects that include our solar and wind energy capabilities. The completion of our new offices demonstrates to local contractors and architects that Rosendin Electric is serious about building our Las Vegas operation.”

HIV Eradication - Research Yields Hope for the Future

The future of fighting the AIDS epidemic and possibly leading to HIV eradication rests on two new approaches. Drugs that activate the latent cells and gene therapy are the two new possible strategies in the future fight against the disease.

Toulon, France (August 19, 2011) -- HIV in its early years seemed like an impossible virus to cure. The best patients could hope for was a treatment to prolong their life and allow them to live as productively as possible with the disease. HIV was and is terminal, but today the virus and its effects on the body can be kept under control for a time, which gives the patient hope for the future. The antiretroviral drugs introduced in the mid ‘90s suppressed the disease and for while gave people with HIV hope for a productive life while in remission. Researchers have discovered two new options in hopes of HIV eradication and these include new drugs and gene therapy.

Since the AIDS virus is hard to eradicate because of its ability to duplicate and place itself in other cells, the antiretroviral drugs worked well with interfering with the replication of cells, but researchers discovered another problem. They found what they refer to as ‘reservoirs’ where lingering viruses hide and emerge later to re-infect the patient after drugs were discontinued. As research continues, the future of fighting the AIDS epidemic and possibly leading to HIV eradication rests on two new approaches. Drugs that activate the latent cells and gene therapy are the two possible strategies in the future fight against the disease.

With the discovery that HIV needs a protein called CCR5 to be able to attach and infect a cell, some are confident in the use of gene therapy. The protein CCR5 is found on the surface of white blood cells and people born with a deleted protein are resistant to HIV infection. This information may mean that with research and testing, a gene therapy may be available in the future that may be safer for the patient and produce promising results in HIV eradication.

The new drugs work by activating latent cells and making the antiretroviral drugs able to interfere with their processes as well, so they cannot hide and reemerge later. There are some issues with the new drugs. Some doctors feel that the drugs may target other cells and lead to adverse side effects for the patient. The gene therapy works by extracting a patient’s cells, genetically modifying them in the lab and injecting them back into the patient’s body. Some doctors believe that gene therapy is scientifically flawed. They go on to argue that it also risky for the patient. When dealing with a virus like HIV that is able to replicate itself and lay dormant means continued research and global support are needed to help with HIV eradication.

AAA supports analysts readjustment of commodities ratings

Alternative Asset Analysis has announced its support for Bank of America Merrill Lynch's move to readjust its stance on commodities, preferring to favor non-cyclical commodities, such as gold, while oil has been downgraded as an alternative asset.

Boston, MA, USA (August 19, 2011) -- Alternative Asset Analysis has announced its support for Bank of America Merrill Lynch's readjustment of its stance on commodities, preferring to favor non-cyclical commodities, such as gold, while oil has been downgraded as an alternative asset.

Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA), a research organization that advocates alternative investments, agrees with the approach from BofA Merrill Lynch Global Commodity Research team, adding that gold is retaining its reputation as a safe place to invest cash during these volatile economic times.

As the equity markets continue to look unstable, investors are looking for alternative assets in far greater numbers, as they can offer them some diversity within their portfolios - making them less reliant on the performance of the stock markets,” stated Anthony Johnson, AAA’s analysis partner.

Fransisco Blanch of BofA Merrill Lynch said, "In response to recent disappointing macro data, the US and European debt crises and the sharp correction in risk assets, we shuffled our active indices to express a bearish view in highly cyclical commodities such as crude oil and copper."

AAA claims the downgrade of oil as an asset is fair as analysts predict that oil demand could fall by as much as 0.4 million barrels per day in 2012, as a result of the continued instability within the European and US economies.

"Adding the current uncertainty linked to the US downgrade and the European debt crisis, we find that the global economy is standing on very frail pillars,” added Mr Blanch.

AAA claims that fund managers are finding themselves under increasing pressure to find suitable alternative investments for their clients, as investors steer clear of traditional assets to minimize risk. Popular alternative asset classes include forestry projects in emerging economies, such as plantations operated by Greenwood Management in Brazil, and real estate investment in emerging economies.

Investing in a section of forested land through a sustainable project like that run by Greenwood Management, offers fantastic opportunities for returns and also helps to reduce deforestation in one of the most densely forested regions in the world,” added Mr Johnson.

Demi Versus Madonna: Which Cougar Do Cubs Prefer?

Do Cubs prefer The Demi Type, who marries her Cub? Or The Madonna Type, who just wants to have fun?

San Rafael, CA - August 17, 2011 -- Contact: Tom Andrews, 415/507-9962

Which Cougar type is the most popular with Cubs? The Demi Moore Type, who wants to marry her Cub? Or The Madonna Type, who just wants to have fun? This question will be answered at a Cougar Party on Saturday, September 10, 2011, 8pm, at 111 Minna Gallery, 111 Minna Street, San Francisco CA 94105. Those who are unable to “vote” at the party are urged to do so online at http://www.cougarevents.com.

The news media stereotypes Cougars as Madonna types who are just looking for superficial relationships with younger men,” says Rich Gosse, Executive Producer of http://www.CougarEvents.com. “The cougars who come to our parties are looking for much more. They are just like most other women: they seek love, intimacy, and a long-term relationship. We hope to prove that at tonight’s party, where Cubs will choose which type of Cougar they prefer.”

Zevrix Updates LinkOptimizer for InDesign, Adds Mac OS X Lion Support

Zevrix Solutions announces LinkOptimizer 4.5.11, a feature update to its popular workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. Awarded 4 out of 5 starts by Computer Arts magazine, LinkOptimizer allows to reduce InDesign job size and speed up processing by eliminating excess image data, performing essential image adjustments and converting file formats automatically. The new version adds support for Mac OS X Lion and BMP image processing, and addresses some reliability and performance issues.

Toronto (ON), Canada - August 17, 2011 -- Zevrix Solutions today announces the release of LinkOptimizer 4.5.11, a feature update to its popular workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. Awarded 4 out of 5 starts by Computer Arts magazine, LinkOptimizer automates complex image manipulation tasks allowing to significantly reduce the size of InDesign job, save processing time and reduce production costs.

The new version adds support for Mac OS X Lion and lets users optimize and convert BMP images linked to InDesign documents. Following its policy of implementing user requests at the earliest opportunity possible, this feature was implemented at a customer's request to automate their BMP-centric workflow. In addition, the new update adds processing of images in skewed frames and improves precision of the crop data calculations.

"LinkOptimizer makes me extremely happy!", says Nynke Tiekstra, the owner of design studio ColtsfootMedia in Friesland, Netherlands, "It converted 10000 images in a 1800 pages project saving us at least 40 hours work, and it proved to be 100% accurate."

LinkOptimizer works automatically with Adobe Photoshop to eliminate the excess image data of InDesign links, perform essential image adjustments and convert various image formats. For example, with just a click of a button users can:

-scale and crop images to match their dimensions in InDesign,
-change their resolution to 300 ppi,
-convert all RGB images to CMYK,
-resave all JPEG images as TIFF,
-run a Photoshop Action on each image.

At the end of processing, LinkOptimizer will reimport images to InDesign at 100% in their precise position. In addition, the software can apply sharpening filters, merge layers and delete hidden ones, and process copies of InDesign documents and images instead of original files. As a result, users can save gigabytes of disk space and countless hours of optimizing images manually, accelerate document output, reduce job turnaround and cut costs through faster processing.

Pricing and Availability:
LinkOptimizer can be purchased from Zevrix web site for US$259.95 as well as from authorized resellers. Trial is also available for download. New Study Delivers Another Strike Against BMI

Body Mass Index (BMI) is often used as an indicator of health but a new study by researchers at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada gives more evidence that this measurement may be misleading many people.

New York, NY, USA - August 17, 2011 -- Body Mass Index (BMI) is often used as an indicator of health but a new study by researchers at McMaster University in Ontario, Canada gives more evidence that this measurement may be misleading many people. They found that some ethnic groups are more likely to be adding dangerous visceral fat onto their internal organs like their liver when they gain weight, while others are adding the more visible subcutaneous fat.

You need to know your body composition and your body fat percentage for a true indicator of your health,” say Dian Griesel Ph.D. and Tom Griesel, co-authors of TurboCharged: Accelerate Your Fat Burning Metabolism, Get Lean Fast and Leave Diet and Exercise Rules in the Dust (April 2011, BSH). “The better home body composition scales will not only show your current percentage of overall body fat but also give you an idea of how much visceral fat you have. This is the information you need. Bulging bellies without much visible or obvious fat are a pretty good indicator of the presence of dangerous visceral fat. The larger your waist measurement the greater your risk and it’s the fat you can't see that will kill you.”

In TurboCharged we explain why BMI is not a good health indicator. BMI will never give you the critical information you need about your body composition to be sure your weight and health goals are on track. We suspect there are many skinny looking yet dangerously fat people walking around with a greater risk of disease and a false sense of security based on a “healthy” BMI number.

The Leading Provider of hCG for Weight Loss in Calgary is Glenmore Healthcare

Glenmore Healthcare and Wellness is the longest standing provider of safe and effective hCG for weight loss in Calgary. Since opening in December 2010, over 300 patients have lost weight utilizing the IAPAM's exclusive hCG Protocol, offered in Calgary only at Glenmore Healthcare. Worldwide, over 14,000 patients have successfully lost weight using the IAPAM's hCG Diet.

Calgary, Alberta, August 17, 2011 -- hCG has been used as a weight loss aid for over 50 years, and since being showcased on the Dr. Oz Show in February 2011, and also in Dr. Oz's interview in First for Women Magazine's June 27th, 2011 issue, it is experiencing a resurgence in popularity in the US and Canada. Patients can access this safe and effective physician-supervised weight loss program in Calgary at Glenmore Healthcare (http://www.glenmorehealthcare.com).

Glenmore Healthcare's exclusive hCG Weight Loss Program is a proven medical solution for optimal weight loss and management. Based upon the successful protocol originally developed in 1954 by Dr. Simeons, and detailed in his report, Pounds and Inches, and refined by the International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine (http://www.iapam.com) in 2010, the Glenmore Healthcare's hCG medically supervised weight loss program is built around a low calorie diet coupled with the administration of the pharmaceutical grade of the naturally occurring hormone, hCG (human Chorionic Gonadotropin). Glenmore Healthcare follows the IAPAM's hCG Weight Loss Protocol, which has been administered to over 14,000 patients around the world with consistent weight loss results. The IAPAM's hCG Weight Loss Program is the only endorsed hCG weight loss protocol available to physicians.

Patients participating in the Glenmore Healthcare’s hCG for Weight Loss Program are monitored by a licensed physician who specializes in hCG for weight loss. Labs and vital statistics are recorded prior to starting the program. Patients at Glenmore Healthcare have lost as much as 20 pounds in our 26 day program, and 35 pounds in our 43 day program. At the end of the program, clinic staff test a patient’s RMR (Resting Metabolic Rate) with the same equipment as used on NBC's "The Biggest Loser."

The FDA states that, “HCG is a hormone extracted from the urine of pregnant women. It is approved by the FDA for the treatment of certain problems of the male reproductive system and in stimulating ovulation in women who have had difficulty becoming pregnant. No evidence has been presented, however, to substantiate claims for HCG as a weight-loss aid.” This is absolutely true if homeopathic hCG is taken, or the entire protocol is not followed. hCG taken on its own will not result in rapid, safe weight loss. It is very important that when a patient undertakes an hCG weight loss program, that they complete it under the supervision of a physician, and strictly follow the entire detailed protocol, as is done at Glenmore Healthcare.

We have simply provided the local hub for them to come together."

LosAngelesCountyBusiness.com is part of the rapidly growing Smart Guy network and only allows 3 professionals per category per zip code (i.e. 3 contractors, 3 bankruptcy attorneys, 3 wedding planners, etc.). Once the category is full, others are placed on a waiting list. Businesses agree to provide top quality service, refer each other whenever possible, and be rated by local consumers.

"In this day and age, people don't want to just pick a random name to do business with. They want a professional recommended by their neighbors, willing to provide top quality service...at a discount", continues Mr. Wexler.

Although businesses can sign up for free, the company offers upgraded services to further help businesses grow both online and offline.

AlphaStaff Enhances Online Broker & Client Experience with New Website

AlphaStaff Group, Inc. one of the nation’s largest professional employer organizations (PEO), unveiled its fully-upgraded and enhanced website, www.alphastaff.com.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - August 16, 2011 -- AlphaStaff Group, Inc. (“AlphaStaff”), one of the nation’s largest professional employer organizations (PEO), unveiled its fully-upgraded and enhanced website. The announcement was made by John Gibson, CEO.

The new website has more tools and resources to support clients, brokers and businesses in general, such as alerts and updates on key business issues like healthcare reform and tax changes to help support the daily needs of companies and brokers. The cleaner look and imagery streamlines searches for key services allowing for increased user-friendly navigation that will lead to an overall more effective and efficient user experience. In addition, AlphaStaff.com features links to their broker blog, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn pages.

We are always looking for ways to best serve our clients and broker partners and we work to implement innovative tools to do so,” said Gibson. “AlphaStaff.com is an extension of that strategy. The site is not only more user-friendly, but also a much more effective resource to support growing businesses.”

AlphaStaff is one of the only PEOs to work exclusively in partnership with insurance brokers. The company believes its proprietary model gives broker partners a competitive advantage in their marketplaces and the new website places a great emphasis on the broker distribution model and how it stands out in an industry where PEOs and insurance brokers are usually competitors. For prospects, the site is broken down into sections by business size, the types of needs they are looking for, and includes, a comprehensive list of resources; all to help the end-user get the results they need quickly. Existing clients can find helpful links for documents, resources to navigate healthcare reform legislation and access a personal client/employee login area to manage their account details.

Gibson acknowledged the new website would also be an important marketing tool moving forward as well as a resource to further position the company as a thought leader and expert in the healthcare reform marketplace, among other areas.

Physicians Receive Botox Training from Leading Dermatologists at IAPAM's September 17-18th Symposium

The IAPAM continues to offer the industry's best clinical, hands-on, aesthetic medicine training in the most advanced botox and skin care procedures. The IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposium is a weekend program, designed by physicians for physicians, and supports the addition of the top 5 minimally invasive procedures: botox, dermal fillers, lasers, microdermabrasion, chemical peels and hCG for Weight Loss to a medical practice or medspa.

Las Vegas, NV, August 16, 2011 -- Over 900 physicians and their staff have attended the IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposiums (http://www.aestheticmedicinesymposium.com) and hCG Training sessions (http://www.aestheticmedicinesymposium.com/physician-hcg-weight-loss-training). These respected and well attended educational programs are designed for physicians eager to safely, profitably and successfully add botox, hCG medical weight loss, lasers for hair removal and skin rejuvenation, and other aesthetic modalities to their existing practices. The IAPAM's Symposium is the only program which gives physicians an opportunity to learn from two board-certified dermatologists, who are true experts in the skin and cosmetic injectables. In order to ensure doctors learn the best injection techniques, the botox training is done in a multi-million dollar medical facility, not in a hotel room. In addition, the Symposium does not allow exhibitors, giving physicians more time for education.

Board-certified dermatologist Dr. Jennifer Linder, who instructs at the IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposium adds, "in order to perform Botox treatments well, one must understand the medication and how it specifically works. Physicians must know how to appropriately dilute the product and how to safely and effectively administer it. Botox training (http://www.iapam.com/botoxtraining.html) should provide an in-depth discussion of facial anatomy and how to evaluate muscle movements to decide on product placement. One must understand the details of how Botox interacts with the muscles, the natural variations of the musculature of the face, as well as how to achieve beautiful aesthetic results by decreasing muscle contraction in a designed and organized fashion. Effective training programs, like the IAPAM's Symposium, should prepare doctors to effectively handle any adverse events both from a medical standpoint, as well as helping the patient to understand the situation. Marketing assistance is also very valuable, and good training seminars, like the IAPAM's Aesthetic Practice Start-Up Workshop (http://www.iapam.com/bootcamp.html), discuss how to market services."

For additional information and to register for the upcoming Aesthetic Medicine Symposium on September 17-18, 2011, please contact the IAPAM at 1-800-219-5108 ext 704, email info@theiapam.com or visit http://www.aestheticmedicinesymposium.com.

Richard Mittelstadt Featured in the Artist Showcase

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Richard Mittelstadt is now featured in the Gallery’s Artist Showcase.

Jupiter, Florida - August 16, 2011 -- Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is extremely pleased to announce that Richard Mittelstadt is now featured in the Gallery’s Artist Showcase. Richard is a Minnesota based artist whose artistic talents are demonstrated in a broad array of styles, subjects and media in all of his artworks. He likes working in printmaking, acrylics and watercolors. Most recently Richard has been expanding his talents within digital landscape photography. Over the years Rick has been experimenting with using a variety of other materials such as colored pencil, chalks, markers, etc. in combination with watercolor and acrylic paints.

Recently, Richard stated “I enjoy using drawing and painting materials to capture the scenic beauty of our natural world. I take most pleasure in working with watercolor and acrylic to capture a mood or momentary feeling in a landscape scene. I especially enjoy the magic that happens through my brushes. My best resources are the wild animals, farms, fields, lakes, streams, hills, and forests of mountain, coastal, and northern-tier states. There the subjects for paintings are endless and never mundane.

When my artwork is finished, not only do I want to enjoy my own creation but I also hope to provide the viewers of my work an opportunity to be briefly distracted from whatever is on their minds-a momentary gift of enchantment and amusement.”

Rick earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Art Education and a Master of Arts Degree in studio art. He retired from Rosemount High School in 2008 after teaching secondary art education for 38 years. During his teaching tenure he taught an extensive range of art processes including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, graphic arts, ceramics, jewelry making, and fiber arts.
