Eight Years of Commitment in HIV Reservoirs and Cure Research

The 5th International Workshop on HIV Persistence, Reservoirs and Eradication Strategies will take place this year from December 6th to December 9th in St. Martin in the West Indies.

Toulon, France, July 14, 2011 -- The 5th International Workshop on HIV Persistence, Reservoirs and Eradication Strategies will take place this year from December 6th to December 9th in St. Martin in the West Indies. These workshops started eight years ago and have taking place every two years since they began back in 2003. For one weekend every two years, the brightest minds in the field of HIV research come together to work as one unit to continue the fight to research and to find a cure for HIV.

Since the beginning of the workshops back in 2003, eight years have gone by and the research continues. Eight years of commitment in HIV reservoirs and cure research have taken place and this year will mark the 5th International workshop on HIV persistence and eradication strategies. The workshop will take place in St. Martin in the West Indies. The dates for this year's workshop will be from December 6th through December 9th. This event will be sponsored by the French Agency for AIDS Research and the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

As in the years past since the beginning of the workshops, the brightest minds from all over the world in HIV reservoir research come together to share new ideas and plans to move forward to find a cure. Throughout the entire length of the workshop, there will be different sessions taking place to discuss bring forth different aspects and different topics about HIV reservoirs. There will also be sessions to discuss new advances and new directions where research needs and wants to go. These workshops take place every two years and during each workshop, scientists from all over come together to share their experiences and to gain new insight from what other people have been doing.

With having the International Workshop on HIV Persistence and Eradication Strategies, scientists from all over the world can come together and be one large unified force to advance the cause to find the long awaited cure for HIV. Different aspects of the disease itself are discussed as well as how the disease grows and changes. To be able to cure something, one must be able to fully understand how it works. These workshops allow scientists from all over to ban together to learn together and gain as much knowledge as possible. They are then able to take this knowledge back home and see what they can do with it.
