Google Smart Contact Lens Hot Topic at Golden Networking's New York Wearable Technologies Conference

Building off of the momentum of past successful conferences, Golden Networking takes Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com) global: New York City, San Francisco, London, Seoul and Munich, "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion".

New York City, NY, USA (January 17, 2014) -- According to USATODAY, Google's vision for wearable technology took another ambitious leap forward Thursday when the world's largest Internet search company announced it is developing a smart contact lens. The consequences of such as ambitious leap will be debated at Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion", forums to be held throughout 2014 in New York City (January 30), San Francisco (March 18), London (May 29), Seoul (September 25) and Munich (November 20).

The project is the latest invention to emerge from the company's Google X unit, which works on long-term, risky new technology that may never become commercially successful but has the potential to change the way people live in drastic ways. The unit has already produced self-driving cars and connected eyewear called Google Glass.

To make the contact lens, Google had to design its own tiny chips and mount them on very thin, flexible, plastic-like film. The chip and a sensor are embedded between two layers of soft contact lens material. A tiny pinhole in the lens lets tear fluid from the surface of the eye to seep into the glucose sensor. The prototypes can take a glucose level reading once every second, Google said. The project's co-founders, Brian Otis and Babak Parviz, worked together at the University of Washington. Parviz joined Google X to work on Google Glass and Otis followed soon after and started trying to build a contact lens from scratch.

Google said it has done "multiple studies" to test the comfort and functionality of the lens and explore how tear glucose correlates with blood glucose, particularly in people with diabetes. It is also talking about the technology with the Food & Drug Administration; this will be discussed at Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014, forums to be held throughout 2014 in New York City (January 30), San Francisco (March 18), London (May 29), Seoul (September 25) and Munich (November 20).

Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014, "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion," will examine wearable technologies' functions, application, the competition and possibilities for economic and personal growth. New York City is World's Wearable Tech Capital on January 30 before San Francisco, Munich and Seoul

Building off of the momentum of past successful conferences, Golden Networking takes Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com) global: New York City, San Francisco, London, Seoul and Munich, "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion".

New York City, NY, USA (January 17, 2014) -- There are thousands of reasons why New York is the capital of the world. One more is coming this January 30. New York City will become the wearable technologies capital as it gets ready to host Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion", forums to be held throughout 2014 first there on January 30 and later in San Francisco (March 18), London (May 29), Seoul (September 25) and Munich (November 20).

The future is here at Wearable Computing Conference 2014 with the production of a new generation of technologies such as Google Glass, Apple "iWatch" and Samsung Galaxy Gear, among others, that will allow users to interact with computing devices that are worn by the bearer under, with or on top of clothing. The introduction of smart watches and glasses bring upon economic, social and personal effects that will revolutionize the human experience.

The use of technology has greatly expanded out of the workplace into users' daily lives. Now the integration of human experience and wearable computing will allow users to enhance each experience. This new wave of technologies will ignite an explosion of innovation which will be the key to advancement for mankind.

Credit Suisse semiconductor analysts John Pitzer, Kulbinder Garcha, Christian Buss, and Stephen Ju offered six months ago an overview note on what they think is "the next big thing," the rise of sophisticated wearable technology, such as smart watches, and other accessories. The authors contended that while "wearables," as they call them, are "not new," nevertheless, they are "at an inflection point in market adoption" because there is a growing installed base of smartphones, cost and performance improvements are coming in components, there is more mature software to run them, and there are new business models for them. The wearables market is a lot bigger than investors realize, they contended, at perhaps $3 billion to $5 billion today, rising to perhaps $30 billion to $50 billion over the next three to five years.

Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014 will examine wearable technologies' functions, application, the competition and possibilities for economic and personal growth.Wearable Computing Conference 2014 is produced by Golden Networking (http://www.goldennetworking.net), the premier networking community for business and technology executives, entrepreneurs and investors.Panelists, speakers and sponsors are invited to contact Golden Networking by sending an email to information@goldennetworking.com.

Google Glass Explorer Not Guilty for Speeding Ticket to Speak at New York Wearable Tech Conference

Building off of the momentum of past successful conferences, Golden Networking takes Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (www.wearable-computing-conference.com) global: New York City, San Francisco, London, Seoul and Munich, "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion".

New York City, NY, USA (January 17, 2014) -- As reported by NBC, Cecilia Abadie, the Southern California woman cited for wearing Internet-connected eyeglasses while driving, was found not guilty; a San Diego traffic court commissioner found there was not enough evidence presented to prove the device was activated at the time of the traffic stop.

"When I contacted her she was wearing a device on her face known as Google Glass," CHP Officer Keith Odle testified. "It was covering half of her right eye." Officer Odle and a representative from the CHP Academy in Sacramento testified on what they considered the safety concerns of the device - including the ability for the user to receive in-frame video chats - but San Diego Commissioner John Blair ruled they did not present enough evidence that Abadie was actually using the device when she was stopped. Abadie maintains she was simply wearing the device, which she does all the time, apparently. She said that the Glass activated when she looked up at the officer as he approached her vehicle.

Blair found Abadie not guilty, but he added that he felt the new device does fall under California Vehicle Code 27602. That particular section, according to CHP, states that it's against the law in California for a motorist to drive a car if a television monitor, screen or similar video monitors are turned on and visible to the driver.

Ms. Abadie, founder of 33Labs, will address hundreds of attendees to Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion", forums to be held throughout 2014 in New York City (January 30), San Francisco (March 18), London (May 29), Seoul (September 25) and Munich (November 20).

A passionate evangelizer about everything digital, Ms. Abadie is a Google Glass Explorer and Pioneer who spreads the word about wearable devices and the many ways they can change our world. As the founder of 33Labs, she leads a global development team that researches and develops wearable and mobile applications to deliver experiences that innovate and disrupt the personal and the enterprise realms. Ms. Abadie was born in Argentina and raised in Uruguay, which is where she got her Master Degree on Information Systems and where she began her career as an international software consultant and developer. She immigrated to the United States of America ten years ago and is currently living in Southern California.
