New UK Woodland Carbon Code could boost tree planting, says FRA

According to Forestry Research Associates (FRA), announcements from the UK Forestry Commission indicating the release of a new Woodland Carbon Code could lead to greater investment in tree planting in the United Kingdom.

Seattle, United States, July 30, 2011 -- Announcements from the UK Forestry Commission indicating the release of a new Woodland Carbon Code could lead to greater investment in tree planting in the UK, according to Forestry Research Associates (FRA).

FRA, a research and analysis consultancy, claims that the new code will help to boost the number of trees planted in the UK, which, in turn, could help reduce the country’s carbon emissions significantly.

The Forestry Commission stated that the new Woodland Carbon Code provides ‘a consistent national approach as well as clarity and transparency to potential investors about just what their money should buy them’. The press release issued by the Commission this week explains that tree planting helps counteract the damaging effects of fossil fuel burning as trees absorb carbon while releasing oxygen into the atmosphere.

FRA’s analysis partner, Peter Collins, added, “We always support attempts to encourage more investment in forestry projects all over the world. Attracting investment is key to both the developed world and to emerging economies, such as Brazil and Indonesia, which both have the additional concern of controlling illegal logging.”

FRA support projects such as the one operated by Greenwood Management in Brazil, which directs foreign investment into developing sustainable plantations of non-native trees, such as eucalyptus and teak.

In co-ordination with the new Woodland Carbon Code, the UK government’s Department of Energy, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), has also changed the guidelines on how organizations need to report their emissions or greenhouse gas removals through Carbon Code projects.

We now have the means to capitalise on some very significant funding opportunities and attract very welcome new woods and forests for everyone’s benefit,” stated Pam Warhurst, the Chair of the Forestry Commission.

Woodland projects need to be managed sustainably and to national standards in order to comply with the new code. They will need to use the recommended methods for estimating the amount of carbon that is to be captured, which will also need to meet with certain transparency criteria and will be certified by an independent party. “This code helps to clarify how investors’ money will benefit the environment and helps to clear up confusion about carbon capture," added Peter Collins.

They are only paid by the client for their advice. The second type of advisor is paid commissions for selling insurance, annuities, and mutual funds. Too often, these products are not in the clients best interest. People should avoid this second type of advisor.”

On-Air Personality Ray Shasho Releases Memoir, Count the Gs, in eBook Format

Check the Gs distributed to over 3,500 internet sites.

Bradenton, FL, USA - July 29, 2011 -- Author Ray Shasho’s memoir, Check the Gs, the true story of an eclectic American family and their wacky family business is now available in eBooks.

At an age when most kids are just getting rid of the training wheels on their bicycle, Ray Shasho entered into a crazy world of secret lingo and bullying sales tactics at the Chin Lung Art Gallery, his father’s retail store on the corner of Thirteenth and F Street in Washington, DC. Check the Gs is the true story of how this bizarre family business changed his world forever.

Raised by a Cuban Catholic mother and Syrian Jewish father, Shasho made his first sale at the age of six and never looked back. Life in the family business, and in the Shasho family, was never boring. From FBI interrogations to angry mobs, each new day at the Chin Lung Art Gallery brought with it new adventures.

Check the Gs tells a story for everyone who is proud of their family and heritage but not afraid to laugh at its many eccentricities, and for anyone who has ever worked in retail and experienced its humorous situations and misadventures.

Someone always wanted to rain on my parade because their life sucked.” says author Ray Shasho. “I attended the school of hard knocks and learned to check the Gs,” After deejaying at several popular radio stations Ray Shasho worked for four of the largest financial institutions in the world during a thirteen-year banking career. The avid writer currently lives in Bradenton, Florida, and pens a classic rock music column for Examiner.com. Ray especially enjoys in-depth interviews with notable rock celebrities. His articles are featured on recording artist’s websites worldwide. His website is http://www.rayshasho.com.

I found Check the Gs to be pure entertainment, fantastic fun and a catalyst to igniting so many memories of my own life, as I too am within a few years of Ray. So to all, I say if you have a bit of grey hair (or no hair), buy this book! It’s a great gift for your “over-the-hill” friends, or for their kids, if they are the history buffs of younger generations trying to figure out why we are the way we are.”-- Pacific Book Review

Normalcy is a myth and anyone who tells you differently isn't very normal. Check the Gs is a memoir from Ray Shasho who tells of his own offbeat upbringing working in the family business art gallery, from a young age. Of Cuban and Syrian descent, he tells a very American story of coming from everything, seeing everything, walking the line of the law and much more. A fun and fast paced memoir, Check the Gs is a worthwhile addition to many a memoir collection.”--Midwest Book Review

Spice up your room with wall decals from Cols Decals UK

They work great if you want to give a room a new look, but don't want to spend days remodelling your room.

Lancashire, UK, July 29, 2011 -- When it comes time to redecorate a room, many people are overwhelmed by the endless choices they face. One option for changing the style of a room is to use wall decals. Wall decals are graphics that are printed on self adhesive paper and because of this are more frequently being referred to as wall stickers. They work great if you want to give a room a new look, but don't want to spend days remodelling your room.

Wall Graphics

There are many high quality designs to choose from on our website, with the most popular design categories being alphabet stickers, animal stickers, baby stickers, boys stickers, butterfly stickers, children’s stickers, dinosaur stickers, fairy stickers, space stickers, football stickers, girls stickers, nursery stickers, princess stickers, safari stickers, and flower wall stickers.

Wall decals are a great choice for many reasons. Since they are printed on self-adhesive paper, all you need to do to install the sticker is to peel the graphic off of the backing and place it onto your surface of choice - it really is that simple.

Our stickers work best on clean, dry interior walls, but will also adhere to wood and glass surfaces. At the most, you may need a pencil and a tape measure to make sure the sticker is positioned the way you want and level. Our stickers’ adhesive is usually removable; therefore, it will not leave any residue behind if you decide to change the placement of the graphic.

Wall stickers are a fantastic choice for when decorating for the simple reason they can be designed specifically for the individual in mind. This makes every graphic unique to its owner, and is a perfect way to add character to any room, and with piece of mind that all our decals are waterproof and scratch resistant and can be cleaned very easily with a damp cloth.

Bringing you modern wall graphics at competitive prices which are guaranteed to satisfy every customer.

Our team only chooses only the best products available, products that give you the 'wow' factor. Our vinyl designs give the appearance that they have been painted (much like stencilling). Cols Decals UK wall decals are plotted for its outline, thus they neither have a border nor a background colour. Cols Decals UK adhesive wall decals hold on almost all smooth surfaces for example plastered painted walls, doors, glass, furniture and tiles.

They are also suitable for your bathroom and last over 5 years positioned outdoors in all types of weather. For long-lasting delight from your wall decals, we recommend that the surface onto which you want to attach your decal has the following criteria:

- Free of dust and grease
- Smooth
- Free of silicone and oil-based paints (eg. latex paint)
- There is no latex residue.

Also, if the surface has been freshly painted we recommend that you wait at least four weeks for the paint to cure completely before you position your decal!

Otherwise simply receive your wall sticker and apply within minutes. Easy to follow instructions are supplied with all purchases and all our items are shipped in a postal tube for safe handling, and smaller items will be shipped in a card backed envelope. We aim to ship within 3 working days from cleared payment.

So why not order your decals, stickers and wall art from our website. All payments are made through our secure, verified payment gateway.

AAA back research showing wealthy investors prefer emerging markets

Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) has welcomed new research suggesting that wealth managers are increasingly willing to invest their client’s fortunes in alternative assets and emerging markets. AAA says that this mirrors their own findings into the investing patterns of wealth managers.

Boston, MA, USA, July 29, 2011 -- Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) has welcomed new research suggesting that wealth managers are increasingly willing to invest their client’s fortunes in alternative assets and emerging markets and says that this closely matches AAA's own findings.

The research, by consultancy Scorpio Partnership, found that 84 per cent of the investment professionals that they questioned said they expect investment in the Asia Pacific region to pay off in the coming 12 months. A third said they hoped to increase investment in Latin America in the coming year, and the same percentage consider the Middle East and North Africa to be good bets for wealthy investors.

AAA is an alternative investment advocacy organization and its analyst partner, Anthony Johnson, has over ten years experience as a fund manager in the UK and the US. He stated, “These latest results show that assets and regions that were once deemed risky as increasingly being seen as good prospects for wealthy investors who want to diversify the risk in their portfolios.”

Some 31 per cent of those questioned in the survey said that they intend to invest in more alternative assets, such as hedge funds. The survey covered an impressive 22 international wealth management firms, responsible for managing around 33 per cent of all private client assets through wealth management firms globally.

Catherine Tillotson, the managing partner at Scorpio Partnership, explained that increasing volatility in the cash and equities markets is driving people towards alternatives. She said that in light of these fears: “It is … not surprising that we are seeing an increasing allocation to alternative investments, particularly hedge funds, as inflationary concerns hit the bond and cash markets.”

AAA encourages investment in emerging economies and alternative assets, such as the sustainable forestry project being run in Brazil by firms like Greenwood Management. “This type of funds is perfect for both high-net-work individuals and people who only want to invest EUR 10,000 or so,” explained Mr Johnson.

He added, “Alternative assets investment projects in emerging markets are a lucrative and often ethical choice these days. AAA is particularly keen to encourage impact investing as a profitable and socially-conscious option for wealthy investors who want to give something back."

Money-Minder.com says it is time you reviewed your life insurance and gives tips on how to save money

According to recent figures released by Sainsbury's Finance, 60 per cent of people with life insurance don't contact their insurer when they have a significant change in their life.

Sleaford, Lincolnshire, UK, July 28, 2011 -- According to recent figures released by Sainsbury's Finance, 60 per cent of people with life insurance don't contact their insurer when they have a significant change in their life.

However, life and protection comparison website Money-minder.com says it’s far more important that they simply review their needs than necessarily go back to their existing insurer. In fact, by shopping around customers could save themselves some money.

For example, a 30 year old male non-smoker taking out £150,000 of level term life insurance cover for 25 years could find a ‘no-fee’ premium as low as £7.32 per month with Zurich through Money-minder.com. However, Skandia would look to charge around £20.85 per month if a consumer bought the same cover directly with them over the phone. That’s a saving of £13.53 per month, or to put it another way a saving of £4059.00 over the 25 year term of the cover.

Although it’s wise to review your life and protection cover regularly there may be some significant changes in your life when it’s essential to take a look at the cover you have and what you might need in the future.

1. Moving home - Whether buying your first home or increasing your mortgage for something bigger it's essential you have enough cover in place to at least pay off your mortgage if something happened to you, and your partner too if you're buying together. Make reviewing your life insurance part of your moving home 'to-do' list. And have your new cover ready to put in place as soon as you move in.

2. Having a baby - Once you start a family you have to start thinking about what would happen if you or your partner died while your child or children were still dependent on you. Just covering your mortgage won't be enough to pay for the upheaval the family would face if one of you wasn’t around to earn an income or look after the family so you have to look at the cover you’d need to replace an income or meet extra costs for childcare. You may need to allow enough money for them to live on until your children are grown up which could be many years. It’s not a nice thing to have to think about, but it’s better than leaving your loved ones in a financial fix.

3. Changing jobs - Some employers offer 'death in service' benefit to their workers. This means the company scheme will pay out a lump sum to your estate if you die whilst in their employment. It’s usually a multiple of your salary and despite what the name suggests you don’t have to die whilst actually carrying out your job, just while you’re employed by them. If you switch jobs or go self-employed you may have to replace this useful cover yourself.

Ray Black, MD and founder of Money-minder.com commented: "Life insurance isn’t the sort of product you renew every year like your car or home insurance so it’s easy to forget to include it when you review your finances. There are some key life events however when you absolutely must look at your life cover and perhaps consider other forms of cover too such as income protection or critical illness cover.

You should also think twice about going straight back to your existing insurance provider before you've shopped around. Our research shows that customers can make significant savings by arranging their cover through a discount broker who sacrifices all or some of their usual commission to give you lower premiums. This is especially true of customers who know exactly what they need and don’t want to pay for extra for advice. Over the term of the policy the savings could run into thousands of pounds.”

5 Top tips for getting the best life insurance deals

1.Shop around! Use trusted comparison sites like http://www.money-minder.com to compare lots of insurers quickly.
2.Don’t necessarily buy life insurance from your mortgage provider. - Previous research by Money-minder has shown that you may pay more for life insurance from your lender than by arranging it yourself.
3.Consider paying a one-off admin fee to get your insurance set up. The monthly premiums will be cheaper and you may save money in the long run.
4.Watch out for 'reviewable' premiums - Insurers can increase reviewable premiums throughout the life of the policy so what may start off as cheap insurance can become expensive. Choose ‘guaranteed’ premiums which are fixed for the life of the policy.
5.Get the right amount of cover. Some websites now have handy tools like Money-minder’s finance navigators to help you decide the type and amount of cover you need. Do your homework to ensure you know what you want before you start looking for quotes.

Simulation Techniques Driving Use of Computational Fluid Dynamics Software in the Asia Pacific

Research conducted by TechNavio reveals that the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Software market in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region is expected to grow at a CAGR of 22 percent.

London, UK, July 28, 2011 -- Research conducted by TechNavio reveals that the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Software market in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region is expected to grow at a CAGR of 22 percent. Technavio's report, which focusses exclusively on the APAC region, indicates that the market is currently being driven by the increasing use of simulation techniques among other factors.

Several industries are adopting CFD instead of real-life modeling as it saves cost. It is expensive to test models in wind tunnels and other such environments. Hence, many industries also prefer to have validated CFD models built before designing a model for experimental purposes. The electronics, automotive, aerospace and defense industries are the major end-users of CFD and other simulation techniques,” reports a TechNavio analyst.

In spite of the demand for CFD software solutions in the APAC region, the lack of relevant expertise in developing countries is hindering the growth of this market. However, decreasing license costs are expected to drive the market. Moreover, the CFD Software market is witnessing the emergence of collaborative CFD templates.

These are just some of the important findings presented in the report that will enable companies to fully understand the potential in this market and formulate their own strategies.

The report, “Computational Fluid Dynamics Software Market in the Asia Pacific 2010–2014,” is based on extensive research conducted with industry experts, vendors, and end-users. It examines the key trends, drivers, and challenges impacting the evolution of this market. The report also contains an in-depth discussion and SWOT analysis of each of the key vendors in this market.

Increased Consumer Spending Power Driving the Automated Teller Machine Market in Brazil

Research conducted by TechNavio reveals that the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) market in Brazil is expected to grow at a CAGR of 16 percent.

London, UK, July 28, 2011 -- Research conducted by TechNavio reveals that the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) market in Brazil is expected to grow at a CAGR of 16 percent. Technavio’s report, which focusses exclusively on Brazil, indicates that the market is currently being driven by the increased spending power of Brazilian consumers.

The growing spending capacity and improved financial status of developing countries such as Brazil are increasing the demand for ATMs. The considerable number of cash transactions through ATMs is directly proportional to the number of customers capable of making a huge amount of frequent transactions. As the financial health of the population improves, spending capacity also rises, which in turn leads to a demand for more ATMs,” reports a TechNavio analyst.

In spite of the demand for ATMs in Brazil, the high installation cost is hindering the growth of this market. However, the consistent demand for financial self-services is expected to drive the market. Moreover, the ATM market in Brazil is witnessing a clear preference for refurbished ATMs over new ATMs.

These are just some of the important findings presented in the report that will enable companies to fully understand the potential in this market and formulate their own strategies.

Technavio's report, which focusses exclusively on China, indicates that the market is currently being driven by the growing need for better quality food.

Increasing health awareness among consumers is driving retail outlets to ensure that food is transported in a temperature-controlled environment. Moreover, with consumers willing to pay extra for fresh food, the Refrigerated Road Transport market in China has seen a major boost in sales,” reports a TechNavio analyst.

In spite of the demand for refrigerated road transport vehicles in China, increasing fuel prices are hindering the growth of this market. "Package Central is perfect for companies that want to automate and streamline their InDesign project archiving and preparation for output," says Leo Revzin, founder of Zevrix Solutions, "It makes life much easier for both operators and managers by taking care of all heavy processing as well as notifications, logging and error checks."

Under Package Central workflow, production artists, prepress operators and designers simply submit files to hotfolders that reside on the network. Package Central automatically collects the files from its station using hotfolder settings, and will auto-activate document fonts as well. Operator workstations will never again be tied up by the packaging process.

Package Central runs on a dedicated machine and watches hotfolders linked to its workflow settings. The software performs all its tasks automatically and can run absolutely unattended. It offers the following key features and benefits:

-Process InDesign files from hotfolders
-Update modified links automatically
-Font auto-activation
-Create PDF and INX/IDML files on the fly
-Automatic e-mail notifications of process stages and errors
-Compose variable folder names
-Metadata-based processing
-Detailed processing logs
-Easy to install and use

Zevrix also makes BatchOutput Server software which automates printing and exporting from InDesign by processing files from hotfolders.

FRA Reports on New Plantation Investment Opportunity

Forestry Research Associates (FRA), which offers research and analysis consultancy services for the forestry industry, is pleased to support the launch of a new ‘Bamboo Bond’ by Eco Planet Bamboo.

Seattle, United States, July 27, 2011 -- Forestry Research Associates (FRA), which offers research and analysis consultancy services, is pleased to support the launch of a new ‘Bamboo Bond’ by Eco Planet Bamboo.

The firm is an offshoot of Chicago-based EcoPlanet Group, which is headed up by president David Cox. He has now set up the bamboo division of the firm working out of offices in St Aldates in the city of Oxford, England. Eco Plant Bamboo is offering people the chance to invest in the bamboo being grown at its plantation in Nicaragua.

The plantation will focus on growing Guadua Angustifolia, which will be easy to sell to growing markets for bamboo flooring and construction materials, largely in the US. Mr Cox explained, “The USA will be the biggest market for the bamboo. The first customers will probably be producers of flooring and panel fibre-board, used in the building of timber frame houses.”

FRA’s analysis partner, Peter Collins said, “We always support the launch of new funds that attract foreign investment in sustainable plantations in emerging economies, such as those in Latin America.”

FRA also supports other sustainable forestry funds, such as the one run by Greenwood Management in Brazil. Greenwood has planted non-native trees such as teak and eucalyptus for use in construction and in the sustainable production of charcoal, which is an essential material in Brazil's growing steel industry.

David Cox believes that those investing in the Bamboo plantation could see healthy profit from the fast-growing crop. He has launched the product at an event at the Hilton Hotel explaining to interested investors that they can invest around around EUR11,000 with the hope of receiving returns of around 503 per cent over 15 years.

Although these rates of return sound extremely ambitious, return on investment in forestry products has outperformed traditional investments, such as equities, in recent years,” added Mr Collins.

Mr Cox said he had already received promised investment of around EUR2.5 million and is confident of reaching his investment target that will enable him to put his plans fully into motion with the planting phase.

A Hot Air Balloon Ride in Michigan a Cool Thing To Do

Over the past 30 years as a balloonist and owner of Westwind Balloon Company, in Plymouth, Michigan Scott Lorenz has been squeezing the most out of his summers by piloting his balloon over Kensington Park, Milford, Brighton and South Lyon, Michigan.

Plymouth, Michigan, July 27, 2011 -- Want a 'cool' way to squeeze more fun out of the summer? Take a hot air balloon ride for the whole family. Over the past 30 years as a balloonist and owner of Westwind Balloon Company, in Plymouth, Michigan Scott Lorenz has been squeezing the most out of his summers by piloting his balloon over Kensington Park, Milford, Brighton and South Lyon, Michigan.

A balloon flight is the perfect way to maximize the summer because it’s an unforgettable experience.” The main reason 'experience' activities are so popular is that in the end all we have are memories and the balloon ride provides a vivid and lasting memory. And, a balloon flight is the perfect “experience” that the whole family can enjoy together,” says Lorenz.

Nobody forgets their first balloon flight. It is truly an experience that cannot compare to anything else. The sensation of flying over trees, lakes and streams, spotting deer and other wildlife is unique and inspiring. When a family activity touches someone both emotionally and on a multi-sensory level they'll remember it. If you really want to make a lasting impression on the family, I say, give em all a hot air balloon ride.”

Balloon flights costs $695.00 for two people, also called a private flight. For a family of four Lorenz arranges for one of his associate pilots to take two passengers. “One time last year one pilot took the mom and a son and I flew the dad and daughter. We launched together, flew up and around each other and landed in the same subdivision. We all met at one spot, shared the experience, celebrated with some champagne and pop and they all laughed as they told each other about the “great photos” they had of one another in their balloon. And that was truly priceless.”

Lorenz offers gift certificates for flights which can be purchased by calling 734-667-2098 or by visiting http://www.westwindcos.com/balloon/ Checks, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Card are accepted. Flights are scheduled May through October.

Scott Lorenz has been a commercial balloon pilot since 1982, and has logged more than 1,450 hours as pilot in command in a hot air balloon. Scott’s memorable ballooning experiences include: Flying over Niagara Falls, The Great Wall of China, Disney World, the Olympics in Calgary, St. Wolfgang, Austria, Saga, Japan, the Grand Prix in Spain, co-piloting one of two balloons for Mike Howard’s Guinness World Record ”balloon walk” flight at 19,000 feet, a 20 hour-361 mile Gas Balloon flight with Gordon Boring, and handling media relations for Kevin Uliassi's Round the World balloon flights.
