Lucky Friday the 13th Fundraiser to Restore Sight

The 5th Annual Singles Charity Ball, Friday, May 13, 2011, 8pm-Midnight, at the Westin St Francis Hotel on Union Square, California Ballroom, 335 Powell Street, San Francisco CA 94102.

San Rafael, CA - April 14, 2011 -- Contact: Tom Andrews, 415/507-9962

The leading singles organizations of the Bay Area are co-sponsoring The 5th Annual Singles Charity Ball, Friday, May 13, 2011, 8pm-Midnight, at the Westin St Francis Hotel on Union Square, California Ballroom, 335 Powell Street, San Francisco CA 94102. 100% of the donations will go directly to the Sight Project of The Seva Foundation, located in Berkeley.

It will be a Lucky Friday the 13th for over two hundred blind people,” says Rich Gosse, Producer of the event, “if we raise as much as we have in past years at this annual fundraiser. Every $50 we raise will enable Seva to perform a sight-restoring eye surgery in the poorer countries of the world, such as India, Nepal, Tibet, Cambodia, and East Africa. Eye surgeries in the USA typically cost thousands of dollars, but are now being performed for only $50 in the Third World, due to innovations created by Seva. More information is available at www.Seva.org.

"Last year’s Singles Charity Ball at the Westin St Francis, raised $13,150,” says Mr. Gosse, “which enabled The Seva Foundation to restore sight to almost 263 blind people. “Due to the deep recession, our charities are in crisis. People just aren't giving enough. We are hopeful that our singles will make up for this shortfall by attending the Singles Charity Ball in large numbers. All of us are donating our time promoting and running this event, so that all of the money raised can go to charity.”

A donation of $20 at the door is requested, which is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. The Ball features dancing to today's hottest hits and the greatest songs of yesteryear. Adults of all ages are welcome. Everyone is encouraged to dress in their finest for this elegant soiree!

HawksHead Systems Inc offers Horse Trailer TPMS Tire Monitoring System

Vancouver, Canada - April 13, 2011 -- HawksHead Systems Inc offers (TPMS) Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems to help Horse Trailer owners protect their valuable cargo.

Many horse trailers from single horse to multi horse units have been involved in accidents due to trailer tire problems, ranging from slow deflation to complete blow outs. Trailer owners should always do a visual check of their tires before every trip, however once moving along the highway the driver has no idea of the current pressures and temperatures of trailer tires and quite often is not aware when one deflates.

By installing a wireless TPMS system on their vehicle the driver can monitor all of their tire pressures and temperatures real time from the drivers seat. Should any tire change from the parameters the driver has entered into the system, a visible and audible alarm along with the problem tires location notifies the driver to pull over as quickly as possible to investigate further.

These TPMS systems are also capable of monitoring the tow vehicle as well and can offer a big advantage to owners of vehicles with dual wheels which are quite often difficult to access.

Saving money is also a big feature of these systems, as we all know the ever increasing prices of fuel and the cost of tires can be vastly reduced by maintaining your truck and trailer tires at the correct operating pressure.

Having a TPMS system when driving at night can be a big advantage as trailer wheels cannot be seen with driving mirrors.

These new systems use sensors with replaceable batteries and are quickly installed on trailers and tow vehicles simply by screwing the sensors on the tire valve.

For more information on Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems to suit horse trailers visit the HawksHead Site at http://www.TireMonitoringSystem.com

Scientists Work for a HIV Functional Cure

Tucker, GA - April 12, 2011 -- Researchers have just unveiled the advanced program of the reference workshop on ‘HIV Persistence, Reservoirs & Eradication Strategies’ to be held later this year in Sin Maarten.

Since 2003, a group of scientists from different fields and countries address the issue of why HIV persists in infected individuals despite antiretroviral therapy (ART) and how it could be attacked in its reservoirs to achieve a cure. The biennial Sin Maarten workshop is the top science seminar where they confront their results and plan new research avenues.

Since we launched our first meeting, great strides have been made towards a HIV functional cure” told Alain Lafeuillade, MD, PhD, member of the Steering Committee. Actually, this condition of “functional cure” naturally occurs in 0.15% of HIV-infected patients. These individuals spontaneously control HIV replication at undetectable levels, do not experience immune depletion or disease progression. They exhibit low levels of HIV reservoirs and strong anti-HIV CD8 responses. Researchers would like to mimic this condition to the benefit of more patients. This would be a valuable response to the current problems raised by life-long ART, which are cumulative toxicity, resistance, compliance, premature aging, persistent inflammation and, for the large majority of patients, treatment access and cost.

These researchers constantly work together via lab collaborations and clinical trials, but need a regular event where they can not only discuss but also meet other scientists, governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, pharmaceutical companies and patients’ representatives.

The 2011 meeting will cover all the aspects of HIV persistence from animal models to genetics and immunology, and dedicate several sessions to new strategies ready to be tested in humans.

Improved Disaster Recovery Capabilities are Encouraging Adoption of Containerized Data Centers

London, UK - April 11, 2011 -- A survey conducted by Technavio reveals, that the global containerized data center market is expected to grow at a healthy rate over the next few years. The survey conducted across geographic regions indicates that the market is currently driven by the need for superior disaster recovery needs.

Organizations across the globe are looking for better ways to manage the complex data center infrastructure. The need for faster deployment of data centers is one of the main drivers of the Containerized Data Center market across the globe. Moreover, the ability of the Containerized Data Center solutions to offer flexible data center asset relocation and re-use is a major factor for many organisations to adopt the solution,” reports Technavio analyst.

In spite of the need, standardized solutions could hinder the growth of this market. However, the increasing availability and reducing costs are expected to drive the market.

The global containerized data center market is marked by challenges varying considerably from region to region. This makes the study an important one for companies to fully understand the potential in the market and formulate its own strategy.

The "Containerized Data Center Market: Survey Report" was conducted among the senior technical and business leaders to understand the gap between interest and adoption. The survey findings throw light on the perceptions pervading the market about the challenges in implementing Containerised Data Centers that are affecting the adoption of Containerized Data Centers.

Increase in Botox Training Correlates with Increased Demand for Botox Treatments

The IAPAM has identified a correlation between the 2011 increase in attendees at its hands-on Botox Training, and the growth in 2010 in Botox and dermal filler procedures. Physicians looking to combat declining insurance reimbursements are looking to add aesthetic medicine procedures like Botox, dermal filler, laser hair removal, microdermabrasion and chemical peels to their practices.

Las Vegas, NV - April 11, 2011 -- Through discussion with its members, and by analyzing recent aesthetic medicine statistics, like the ASPS 2010 Plastic Surgery Procedural Statistics and the ASAPS's Cosmetic Surgery National Data Bank Statistics 2010, the IAPAM (http://www.iapam.com) has identified that in 2010, aesthetic medicine physicians were preforming more botox and other cosmetic injectables procedures, more chemical peel treatments, more laser skin rejuvenation, and more medical microdermabrasions vs. more invasive treatments. The ASPS reported that botox injections and other minimally-invasive procedures increased by 6% from 2009 to 2010. Also, men contributed significantly to this growth. Botox procedures increased 9% and dermal fillers treatments increased 10% for men. Finally, business from repeat customers increased by 13% from 2009 to 2010. In support of this market growth, the IAPAM has tailored its educational programs, like its Aesthetic Medicine Symposium with Botox Training (http://www.aestheticmedicinesymposium.com), to ensure physicians have hands-on botox training, and can start offering aesthetic medicine procedures immediately after attending.

Since the key to growth in 2011 will be offering lower cost, short term procedures (i.e. botox, dermal fillers, chemical peels, physician-directed skin care and medical microdermabrasion) versus higher cost, long term procedures (i.e. face lifts and breast augmentation), doctors will seek out professional training programs, offered in medical facilities not hotel rooms, and taught by physicians and other expertly trained medical and business personnel. The IAPAM's Aesthetic Medicine Symposiums with Botox Training, Aesthetic Medicine Practice Start-Up Workshops and hCG Medical Weight Management Seminars, are all designed by physicians for physicians, to meet this essential educational need.

For more information on the IAPAM's remaining 2011 physician training programs, please visit http://www.iapam.com, contact the IAPAM at 1-800-219-5108 ext. 704, or email pr1@theiapam.com.

The New P90X Program Promises Results In Just 90 Days

Los Angeles, CA - April 10, 2010 -- P90X is an at-home workout program that is designed to completely revolutionize your body in just 90 days. The program focuses on burning excess fat, as well as building lean muscle that will completely reshape the body. P90X requires little equipment to get these results, but it takes quite a bit of commitment to take the 90 day challenge and actually complete the entire program.

The brainchild behind P90X is trainer Tony Horton, who created this program as a guaranteed way to get results in the shortest amount of time. P90X is a complete workout program made up of 12 intense workout routines detailed over the course of 12 DVD’s. P90X is designed as a complete, proportional, full-body exercise program that builds muscle fast and decreases body fat.

The real key to the success of P90X is both the intensity of the program as well as what is known as “muscle confusion”. This is basically a process of switching up the exercises to avoid exercise plateaus as well as boredom from doing the same exercises over and over again. This type of exercising is a great way to stay motivated as you continually see your body change for the better. If for some reason, you do not receive the results that you were expecting, the company even offers a full 90 day satisfaction guarantee.

Along with the complete 90 day workout schedule, the program also includes a comprehensive P90X nutrition plan to accompany the workouts. Nutrition is equally important to exercise when it comes to changing your body shape. This nutrition plan is designed to adapt to the program as you progress through your workouts. The complete nutrition guide has three distinct phases that will show you exactly what to eat to receive maximum results. For more information on the P90X nutrition plan, please visit http://www.resurrectingthechamp.com/p90x-nutrition-plan/.

Many customers have reported that the P90X program is intense and difficult, especially in the beginning. This program takes a high level of commitment and is not meant for the casual exerciser. 90 days is really a short amount of time to get the body of your dreams, but it will take much commitment, lots of sweat and maybe even a few tears to make it to the end. Customers who completed it say that this was the best decision that they ever made because P90X completely changed their life for the better.

If you would like to learn more about P90X, please visit our website with a complete P90X review, as well as customer reviews and tips on where to buy P90X. http://www.resurrectingthechamp.com/p90x/

Movea Sees Success with Miniaturised 9-axis Inertial Measurement Unit

MotionPod provides a fast track motion sensing solution for customers in health and fitness, gaming, and sports applications.

Grenoble, France - April 08, 2011 -- Movea, a world leader in motion technology, has created a wireless, miniaturised, Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that uses MEMS sensors to accurately measure 9 Degree-of-Freedom (DOF) motion with a PCB module that is about the size of a small wristwatch. The MotionPod™ is a patented hardware solution for motion sensing that incorporates a 3-axis accelerometer, a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis magnetometer in fully integrated package complete with software and wireless interface. The miniaturized MotionPod is now an off-the-shelf component, ready to be used in a wide range of applications including fitness, gaming, and sports. It is also successfully being used by RM Ingénierie, a subsidiary of the CEGEDIM Group, to enable a new generation of groundbreaking joint assessment and rehabilitation applications.

The MotionPod is a perfect solution for the health and fitness market,” explained Sam Guilaumé, Movea's CEO. “This nine-axis sensing device provides precise, real-time angular information with a dynamic accuracy of 1 degree, enabling very accurate measurement of rehabilitation and fitness activities. We're very excited that RM Ingénierie has selected Movea's MotionPod for their innovative rehabilitation solution.”

RM Ingénierie, which specializes in medical and paramedical management software, uses Movea MotionPods in their Physical Rehabilitation solution. The MotionPods capture limb movement and provide precise information on limb orientation and mobility. MotionPods provide a fast and accurate record of a patient's progress to be used for biofeedback into evaluation and exercises, making limb rehabilitation interesting and fun by engaging the patient.

Pierre Foucault, CEO at RMI, explained, “Our speciality is in creating software for medical applications. MotionPods provide us with exactly the data we need from the sensors without us having to invest time and effort in the details of how it is obtained. This is a perfect plug and play solution that helps us get to market quickly secure in the knowledge that we can rely on the Movea’s expertise in motion technology.”

A single MotionPod can provide information like range of motion, rotation, speed, and acceleration. Multiple MotionPods can also be networked to gather information simultaneously from different parts of the body for applications such as performance analysis and full body motion capture. Researchers Unveil HIV Persistence & Reservoirs Meeting Advanced Program

Toulon, France - April 08, 2011 -- Despite major improvements in life expectancy and quality of life with antiretroviral therapy, today’s treatment cannot cure HIV infection. To try to eradicate HIV from infected individuals, researchers must figure out where the virus hides and how persistent infection is established in these sites. They have also to screen and test new kinds of drugs able to reach HIV in its ‘dormant’ state.

The prospect of efficiently controlling HIV persistence in infected persons without permanent antiretroviral therapy is the hard task a group of researchers has addressed since 2003. By organizing every 2-year the “International Workshop on HIV Persistence, Reservoirs & Eradication Strategies”, they sum-up their current advances in the field.

The Steering Committee has just announced the preliminary program of the next edition of the workshop, to be held December 6-9, 2011.

Understanding the mechanisms of HIV persistence implies molecular biologists, virologist and immunologists to work together. Then, this leads to new strategies that are implemented by clinical researchers. This preliminary program therefore includes top researchers from these different areas, coming from USA, Europe and Australia. These 3 days meeting will go from the animal models of HIV persistence to the currently ongoing trials of gene therapy. It will combine state-of-the-art presentations, un-published data submitted by participants, and extended time for discussion.

The previous workshops have been very successful with more than 150 top class scientists from all across the globe attending it. The workshop is an excellent opportunity for these delegates to interact and share information with other researchers, governmental agencies, patients representatives and pharmaceutical companies.

About the Workshop:
The top scientists who have devoted their efforts to this workshop include: Alain Lafeuillade, Department of Infectious Diseases, General Hospital, Toulon, France, José Alcami, AIDS Immunopathology Unit, Institute of Health "Carlos III", Madrid, Spain; Monsef Benkirane, CNRS, Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Montpellier, France; Nicolas Chomont, Vaccine & Gene Therapy Institute, Port Ste Lucie, FL, USA; Tae-Wook Chun from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Bethesda, USA; David Margolis, University of North Carolina, Chapell Hill, USA; Robert Gallo from The Institute of Human Virology, Baltimore, USA; Marie-Lise Gougeon, Antiviral Immunity, Biotherapy & Vaccine Unit, Pasteur Institute, Paris, France; Mario Stevenson from the University of Miami - Miller School of Medicine, Miami, USA; and François Barré-Sinoussi, Pasteur Institute, Paris, France, 2008 Nobel Laureate for Medicine.
