Asia Pacific Real Estate Investment Boom revealed by AAA

The real estate market in the Asia Pacific region is expected to continue to see a strong performance for the remainder of the year, Jones Lang LaSalle and Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) have claimed.

Boston, MA, USA - August 23, 2011 -- The real estate market in the Asia Pacific region is expected to continue to see a strong performance for the remainder of the year, Jones Lang LaSalle and Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) have claimed.

Internal research by AAA, an alternative investment advocacy group, supports the Jones Lang LaSalle findings which show that investment volumes have increased by 11.1 per cent in August 2011, compared with August last year. Targets for the year as a whole are for some $100 billion of deals to be completed in the Asia-Pacific region, the report explained.

Jones Lang LaSalle’s head of capital markets for the region, John Talbot, said, “Investors who are interested in diversification of their portfolios are likely to be attracted to real estate in the region, based on cash flow from rent with the potential to keep pace with inflation. We have seen a series of institutional investors increase their allocations to real estate, sustaining market volumes.”

AAA’s analysis partner, Anthony Johnson, said, “It’s the same story we are hearing from those involved in several different alternative asset classes at the moment.

Investors are eager to put their money into safer funds and investment opportunities to make sure their cash is not tied too closely to the equity markets.”

There were a large number of deals in Australia, where buyers from markets including Canada, the US and Switzerland looked to buy up property because of its strong links to Asia. Domestically, China was the largest dealmaker in the real estate market, with over $5 billion of deals so far.

AAA claims that investment in alternative asset classes that make the most of the growing Asian economies are a strong option for those looking to diversify. Mr Johnson said, “There are several investment opportunities that are well placed to make the most of China’s and India’s booming economies.

Real estate is one, but forestry is another. Investment through firms like Greenwood Management, which runs plantations in Brazil, help to provide Asia with the raw materials they need for growth, while helping protect the world’s resources for generations to come.”

Ten International Authors Deliver Diverse Anthology

Authors from the US, UK, Canada and Australia pool their talents to create BestSellerBound.com’s Anthology 2.

Sarasota, Florida, August 23, 2011 -- Under the direction of Quiet Fury Book’s Darcia Helle, ten authors from the US, UK, Canada and Australia have delivered short stories to create Best Seller Bound’s Anthology 2.

The ten featured authors are: What Was Lost by James Sophi, The Art of Breathing by Jaime McDougall, Soul Windows by Jaleta Clegg, I Didn't Know His Name by Darcia Helle, Red Route by James Everington, Make A Wish by Susan Helene Gottfried, The Last Chance Motel and Mausoleum by Joel Blaine Kirkpatrick, Isolation by Maria Savva, Beyond The Green Hills by Tom Gahan, From Joy We Come, Unto Joy We Return by Ami Blackwelder.

London based book critic and resident author at BestsellerBound.com said, “The BSB (http://www.BestSellerBound.com) Short Story Anthology - Volume 2, is a wonderful collection of short stories by members of BestsellerBound.com. Having had success on Amazon with Volume 1, Darcia (BsB’s creator) decided to make this an ongoing project. On BSB we are dedicated to finding ways to promote our members’ work. Independent writers often struggle to get their books noticed. The short story anthologies are our way of bringing some of the great talent we have on our board into the public eye. The collections are available free to download, and we hope readers will find new authors to enjoy by checking out their short stories. Most of the contributors also have novels and other short story collections available, so the anthologies are a way of introducing unknown authors to the reading public. I continue to be amazed by the quality of writing being produced by self-published and independent writers. At BSB, we don't want to keep it secret... there's a whole world of books that readers are missing out on by only buying the bestsellers. In Volume 2 alone, there are at least three stories that stood out to me as masterpieces.”

The 27,300 word BestSellerBound Short Story Anthology 2, edited by Darcia Helle, is available as a free download in various formats at Smashwords.com http://www.smashwords.com/books/view/78449#longdescr, and currently as a 99 cent download at Amazon.com’s Kindle Store http://www.amazon.com/BestsellerBound-Short-Story-Anthology-ebook/dp/B005FMSI66/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1314114024&sr=1-1.

Darcia Helle said, “I am honored to be part of a community of authors who are not only immensely talented but are also overwhelmingly generous and truly nice people. Our hope is that our words will entertain you, move you, make you smile, give you a shiver and maybe make you cry.”

Tom Gahan, author of Harmony Bay, a contributor to the anthology and marketing director at First Edition Design eBook Publishing (http://www.firsteditiondesignpublishing) stated, “eBooks have opened doors for writers that were never possible before. With a few mouse clicks a writer can put their work on the road to a worldwide audience. This anthology is providing another vehicle for these authors to ride in on the cyber-highway.”

Clues to HIV Persistence on ART

Recent research has found that while antiretroviral therapy (ART) is effective at significantly reducing the number of plasma-to-T-cell transmissions of HIV, it’s not as effective against T-cell-to-T-cell. The remaining virus hides in infected T-cells, which allows it to easily be passed on to non-infected ones; this, in fact, is one of the reasons why HIV persists through ART.

Toulon, France, August 23, 2011 – HIV has a built-in backup plan when it comes to its survival. While scientific technology has progressed to the point where antiretroviral drugs can effectively kill HIV viruses in the body that are out in the open, HIV persists in places where the drugs can't get to them. These places are called HIV reservoirs, and these reservoirs ensure that small batches of virus remain in the body, ready to replicate when necessary. This is part of what makes HIV a chronic infection-the remaining virus finds ways to remain dormant in the body until activated. Research is now focusing on cracking the case of HIV persistence.

The goal of researchers now is to remove the “chronic” term from the chronic illness that is HIV and come up with a cure for the disease. A better understanding of HIV and how it infects people to begin with might be the key to discovering ways to enter the reservoirs within the body and eliminate the virus. As we already know, HIV infects cells in two ways: through blood plasma contact with T-cells, and from infected T-cells to non-infected T-cells. Antiretroviral drugs, while effective, don't remove the entire virus quantity, and all it takes is for one HIV virus to remain behind for the replication to continue.

To use a football analogy, ART is able to intercept passes through the air (plasma) from one cell to another, but it can't stop direct handoffs. A strategy is needed to defend against each separately, because the same defense can't be used against both.

Even with antiretroviral drugs present, infected T-cells can still infect other T-cells in close quarters instead of through the bloodstream; this often happens in the lymph nodes. Therefore, in order to find an actual cure for HIV, researchers need to find a way to deal with HIV reservoirs filled with both latent HIV virus and active virus that is transmitted from cell-to-cell. The clues to HIV persistence are clear, but this is one of those situations where the answer seems obvious but the path toward deriving the answer is extremely difficult.

AAA Reports on Clopton Capital Championing of Alternative Assets

Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) has backed claims from Chicago-based commercial finance firm Clopton Capital, that attention is turning away from traditional assets and towards alternatives.

Boston, MA, USA - August 22, 2011 -- Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) has backed claims from Chicago-based commercial finance firm Clopton Capital, that attention is turning away from traditional assets and towards alternative assets.

Clopton’s founder, Jake Clopton, explained that the current volatility within the traditional asset classes, such as stocks and shares, means money is being transferred into alternatives to try to reduce the risk held in American investment portfolios. Mr Clopton explained to the press: “For those in the risky and possibly more lucrative mind set of investing in hedge funds, real estate and other alternatives to the low risk less potent investments, Clopton Capital has an excellent solution that carries both massive potential and relatively low risk."

Analysts at Clopton said they expect to take a year or more to built a clientele of affluent investors, but that they will then have exceptionally strong retention rates.

AAA supports investment in funds, such as the one offered by Clopton, but it is also keen to promote the range of direct investment opportunities there are available for those looking to move toward alternatives.

The analysis organization’s partner, Anthony Johnson, who has years of fund management experience, said, “For those eager to find new and lucrative ways to invest while minimizing risk held in their portfolios, there are a huge range of ethical and alternative options out there.”

AAA’s analysts claim that investing in forestry in emerging markets is a winning formula, with firms like Greenwood Management offering individuals the chance to buy up valuable forested land in Brazil, where non-native timbers are grown for export and use domestically in the booming steel industry.

Mr Johnson explained more: “Brazil is the place to put your cash at the moment. With the World Cup and the Olympics all heading there in the coming few years, along with an increasingly strong economy, industry is booming and the nationals are eager to spend their cash.”

FRA: Saints latest to direct investment towards forestry

Forestry Research Associates has welcomed the reports that the Scottish American Investment Company has diversified from stocks and shares into forestry investment.

Seattle, United States, August 20, 2011 -- Forestry Research Associates has lauded the actions of the Scottish American Investment Company which has announced its diversification from purely stocks and shares into forestry investment.

The firm, which is known as Saints, is the latest of a procession of major investment firms to choose forestry investment as a way of diversifying funds.

Saints now has a far more diversified portfolio than many of its rival funds, with interests in debts, real estate and forestry. FRA’s analysis partner, Peter Collins, stated, “The decision to opt for more alternative investments is a wise move from Saints. Their fund is much less vulnerable to the variations in the equity markets, which, from recent experience, could make a fund considerably more attractive to investors."

Returns for investors are high and risk is lower than for similar products elsewhere. FRA explains that investing in forested land comes with minimal risk, as if the trees are worth less when they are at maturity, investors can simply hold onto them until timber prices rise. “In the meantime the trees continue to grow of course,” added Mr Collins.

FRA encourages investment in renewable forest schemes, such as the plantations scheme run by Greenwood Management in Brazil. Mr Collins added, “This investment opportunity is popular as it offers a direct investment opportunity, which means investors actually own a section of forest and will receive the value of the timber once fully grown.”

Figures also show that forestry investment can often result in better returns than stocks and shares can offer.

The news of the Saints’ decision to invest in alternatives follows news that several major pension funds are also opting to diversify into more alternative assets classes, such as precious metals, commercial property, forestry and even antiques and art. The move towards less emphasis on equities comes in response to pressure from investors who do not want to risk losing large amounts of money on stock market crashes.

Properly Hydrating Your Body: There's More To It Than Just Drinking Water

"Early on in our study of human diet, we often noticed that our personal hydration levels increased after consuming fruits and vegetables," say Dian Griesel, Ph.D., and Tom Griesel, co-authors of TurboCharged.

New York, NY, USA - August 20, 2011 -- Over the course of humanity’s evolutionary past, almost everything we ate had a very high percentage of water. For example, fruits, vegetables, eggs and raw animal protein are composed of somewhere between 70% to 96% water. The ramifications of this fact are worth examining.

Early on in our study of human diet, we often noticed that our personal hydration levels increased after consuming fruits and vegetables,” say Dian Griesel, Ph.D., and Tom Griesel, co-authors of TurboCharged: Accelerate Your Fat Burning Metabolism, Get Lean Fast and Leave Diet and Exercise Rules in the Dust (April 2011, BSH). “We observed this effect on a consistent basis, and we used to wonder why-particularly since we were drinking adequate amounts of water.”

In July 2009, the Daily Mail reported on a research study performed at the University of Aberdeen Medical School in Scotland. The study found that some fruits and vegetables might hydrate our bodies twice as effectively as a glass of water. This confirmed the Griesels’ observation about their hydration levels, and ensured that a focus on fruit and vegetable consumption was given a top spot in their TurboCharged program.

HIV Eradication Now and Then - Time to Take Action Toward an HIV Cure

With a combined effort and continued research the goal of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic seems more in reach when comparing HIV Eradication Now and Then. It will take an ongoing combined effort, but with continued research a cure could be near.

Toulon, France (August 20, 2011) -- When HIV/AIDS first began infecting people the likelihood of a cure seemed out of reach. Patients were treated and learned to live with the fact that they had a disease with no hope of restoral to health. Their illness was terminal and they faced a certain death from complications associated with the disease. In 1996, antiretroviral drugs were a new hope, not for a cure but to suppress the disease and give people a chance to live a longer more productive life with the illness. Researchers have discovered new treatments and have made strides when comparing the possibility of HIV Eradication Now and Then.

The promising outlook of successfully treating with antiretroviral drugs was short-lived as researchers discovered that what they called ‘reservoirs,’ which are places where the lingering virus lies in wait and emerge when the patient discontinues the drugs. The virus is then ready to flourish again attacking the CD4 immune cells. Research continues and the future looks a little brighter when comparing HIV eradication now and then, as the International AIDS Society and others have joined together once again in a renewed effort to find a cure for HIV/AIDS. The IAS continues to seek funding and support for cure-related science to continue.

The most recent research has brought about hope in the form of a functional cure, which means the virus is not totally eradicated from the body, but permanently suppressed. To suppress the virus would mean to stop replication and reduce the reservoirs, so that long-term remission of patients is possible. The IAS strategy is to raise awareness and obtain widespread support globally for the new research to address HIV persistence in some patients and further studies on the reservoirs. With a global outreach and support the realization of a cure or suppression is more promising when comparing HIV Eradication Now and Then.

Three main objectives exist in the research for HIV/AIDs. These objectives include recognition of the need for a safe HIV/AIDS therapeutic and preventive plan to help control the continuing AIDS epidemic, commitment to encourage a combination of both international and multidisciplinary research for an AIDS cure and encourage contributions for research from organizations, stakeholders and international leaders. With a combined effort and continued research the goal of ending the HIV/AIDS epidemic seems more in reach when comparing HIV Eradication Now and Then. It will take an ongoing combined effort, but with continued research a cure could be near.

HIV Eradication - Research Yields Hope for the Future

The future of fighting the AIDS epidemic and possibly leading to HIV eradication rests on two new approaches. Drugs that activate the latent cells and gene therapy are the two new possible strategies in the future fight against the disease.

Toulon, France (August 19, 2011) -- HIV in its early years seemed like an impossible virus to cure. The best patients could hope for was a treatment to prolong their life and allow them to live as productively as possible with the disease. HIV was and is terminal, but today the virus and its effects on the body can be kept under control for a time, which gives the patient hope for the future. The antiretroviral drugs introduced in the mid ‘90s suppressed the disease and for while gave people with HIV hope for a productive life while in remission. Researchers have discovered two new options in hopes of HIV eradication and these include new drugs and gene therapy.

Since the AIDS virus is hard to eradicate because of its ability to duplicate and place itself in other cells, the antiretroviral drugs worked well with interfering with the replication of cells, but researchers discovered another problem. They found what they refer to as ‘reservoirs’ where lingering viruses hide and emerge later to re-infect the patient after drugs were discontinued. As research continues, the future of fighting the AIDS epidemic and possibly leading to HIV eradication rests on two new approaches. Drugs that activate the latent cells and gene therapy are the two possible strategies in the future fight against the disease.

With the discovery that HIV needs a protein called CCR5 to be able to attach and infect a cell, some are confident in the use of gene therapy. The protein CCR5 is found on the surface of white blood cells and people born with a deleted protein are resistant to HIV infection. This information may mean that with research and testing, a gene therapy may be available in the future that may be safer for the patient and produce promising results in HIV eradication.

The new drugs work by activating latent cells and making the antiretroviral drugs able to interfere with their processes as well, so they cannot hide and reemerge later. There are some issues with the new drugs. Some doctors feel that the drugs may target other cells and lead to adverse side effects for the patient. The gene therapy works by extracting a patient’s cells, genetically modifying them in the lab and injecting them back into the patient’s body. Some doctors believe that gene therapy is scientifically flawed. They go on to argue that it also risky for the patient. When dealing with a virus like HIV that is able to replicate itself and lay dormant means continued research and global support are needed to help with HIV eradication.

AAA supports analysts readjustment of commodities ratings

Alternative Asset Analysis has announced its support for Bank of America Merrill Lynch's move to readjust its stance on commodities, preferring to favor non-cyclical commodities, such as gold, while oil has been downgraded as an alternative asset.

Boston, MA, USA (August 19, 2011) -- Alternative Asset Analysis has announced its support for Bank of America Merrill Lynch's readjustment of its stance on commodities, preferring to favor non-cyclical commodities, such as gold, while oil has been downgraded as an alternative asset.

Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA), a research organization that advocates alternative investments, agrees with the approach from BofA Merrill Lynch Global Commodity Research team, adding that gold is retaining its reputation as a safe place to invest cash during these volatile economic times.

As the equity markets continue to look unstable, investors are looking for alternative assets in far greater numbers, as they can offer them some diversity within their portfolios - making them less reliant on the performance of the stock markets,” stated Anthony Johnson, AAA’s analysis partner.

Fransisco Blanch of BofA Merrill Lynch said, "In response to recent disappointing macro data, the US and European debt crises and the sharp correction in risk assets, we shuffled our active indices to express a bearish view in highly cyclical commodities such as crude oil and copper."

AAA claims the downgrade of oil as an asset is fair as analysts predict that oil demand could fall by as much as 0.4 million barrels per day in 2012, as a result of the continued instability within the European and US economies.

"Adding the current uncertainty linked to the US downgrade and the European debt crisis, we find that the global economy is standing on very frail pillars,” added Mr Blanch.

AAA claims that fund managers are finding themselves under increasing pressure to find suitable alternative investments for their clients, as investors steer clear of traditional assets to minimize risk. Popular alternative asset classes include forestry projects in emerging economies, such as plantations operated by Greenwood Management in Brazil, and real estate investment in emerging economies.

Investing in a section of forested land through a sustainable project like that run by Greenwood Management, offers fantastic opportunities for returns and also helps to reduce deforestation in one of the most densely forested regions in the world,” added Mr Johnson.

Y-cam Solutions Ltd has helped Domino’s Pizza protect their 600 company and franchised stores across the UK and Ireland with over 200 IP cameras.

RICHMOND, London - Thursday 18th August 2011 -- Y-cam Solutions Ltd, the leading provider of affordable and easy-to-use remote monitoring products, have helped Domino’s Pizza protect their 600 company and franchised stores across the UK and Ireland with over 200 IP cameras.

Domino’s Pizza is a world renowned pizza delivery organisation that is responsible for delivering the best possible service to their store managers and franchisees, ensuring that their businesses are run to the highest efficiency whilst maintaining the reputation of a quality brand. As part of this, Domino’s need to ensure that each store is a safe and secure environment, equipped with a first-class security solution.

The installation consisted of over 200 Y-cam cameras located in 120 stores across the UK and Ireland, and installed by Domino’s in-house IT team, utilising the organisations existing CCTV infrastructure – running through iCode i-Catcher monitoring software.

Naz Ahmed, IT Installation Manger for Domino’s Pizza, explained; “Staff work throughout the day and night – unsociable hours. This opens up stores to a number of threats, which is heightened due to the opening hours and the areas that some stores are located. They tend to get a bit of trouble, especially with the late night trade, so to ensure the safety of the customers and staff we have cameras installed.”

Y-cam cameras are at the forefront of monitoring technology, and Domino’s have utilised their versatile features to perfectly the match requirements of each store installation – using indoor and outdoor models, night vision capabilities for around-the-clock surveillance, motion detection alerts, plus remote access to the cameras through the internet and from mobile devices.

We wanted to stay ahead of the times, analogue was dying out and at that time, IP cameras were new. We wanted to stay ahead of the times and be cutting edge of the market, therefore we decided to go digital” commented Naz.

Domino’s now have over 200 Y-cam Knight S and Black S cameras installed, providing quality security coverage for each store - assisting store managers, and the brand as a whole, to combat crime, reduce vandalism and ensure the safety of the staff and customers within the World’s leading pizza delivering company.

Although Domino’s Pizza is a tremendously successful and large business, each individual store faces the same challenges that any small independent business has.” commented Simon Carr, Sales Manager for Y-cam Solutions. “These are the businesses that we aim to assist, with our high quality, easy-to-use and affordable remote monitoring solutions.
