Fighting Fires and Speed Tickets with Google Glass at Wearable Computing Conference 2014 New York

Building off of the momentum of past successful conferences, Golden Networking takes Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com) global: New York City, San Francisco, London, Seoul and Munich, "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion".

New York City, NY, USA (January 22, 2014) -- According to CNN, Patrick Jackson has developed an app for Google Glass, Google's experimental head-mounted computer, which feeds important information directly to the eye-line of firefighters in an emergency. When a building is on fire, every second counts for the first responders rushing to the scene. This computer-savvy firefighter in North Carolina is hoping a bit of futuristic wearable technology and clever programming can help save time and lives, themes that will be covered at Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion", forums to be held throughout 2014 in New York City (January 30), San Francisco (March 18), London (May 29), Seoul (September 25) and Munich (November 20).

By routing information directly to Glass, the app can save firefighters from having to stop what they're doing in order to reach for a radio, smartphone, tablet or computer. Jackson plans on adding even more useful data in future versions, like information on specific buildings including blueprints, potential building hazards and contact information for owners. A firefighter might be able to say an address out loud or simply look at a building with the Glass camera to retrieve information.

Glass can also record the first video of a situation when crews arrive. That early documentation will be important to fire investigations down the line. For now, Glass isn't compatible with the oxygen masks firefighters wear on the ground, so the app is more for external personnel. Jackson's Glass stays behind in the truck.

A self-taught programmer, Jackson first started tinkering with computers when he was 7 and later spent a year studying computer science in college before transferring to the University of North Carolina, Asheville, for an environmental management and policy program. He became a firefighter and didn't do much with computers for another decade. Then, about four years ago, he purchased a smartphone and was inspired to start programming again. "Since then I've taught myself way more than I ever knew about programming. I've developed an Android app, an iPhone app and a Glass app," Jackson said.

His first project was the Android app Firefighter Log, which similarly routed key information directly to the smartphone, including text messages from fire and EMS dispatchers, streams of emergency radio feeds, and location information for fires and nearby hydrants. Jackson says more than 20,000 people have downloaded the apps. To get his hands on Google Glass, Jackson submitted his idea to Google's IfIHadGlass competition. He raised money to cover the cost of the hardware through an Indiegogo campaign and received the device in September.

Other fire departments and researchers also are experimenting with wearable technology, thanks to a recent availability of affordable wearable sensors that can track vitals and environmental factors like air quality and temperature. The Wearable Advanced Sensor Platform, or WASP, can track a firefighter's location as well as physical data such as heart rate, breathing and activity levels in real time. A Belgium finalist for Microsoft's Imagine Cup created a system that combines location sensors and augmented reality glasses to help firefighters move around buildings when there is minimal visibility.

When he's not fighting fires or perfecting his app, Jackson is working on another possibly life-saving use for Google Glass: an app to help administer CPR. Using the built-in accelerometer in Glass, the app can measure how fast someone's chest compressions are and instruct the person to go faster or slower.

Why Wearable Technology is all but Fad at Golden Networking's New York Wearable Computing Conference

Building off of the momentum of past successful conferences, Golden Networking takes Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com) global: New York City, San Francisco, London, Seoul and Munich, "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion".

New York City, NY, USA (January 22, 2014) -- Is wearable technology truly destined for the great success that its many advocates might suggest? Hundreds of developers and enthusiasts about these technologies will converge at Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion", forums to be held throughout 2014 in New York City (January 30), San Francisco (March 18), London (May 29), Seoul (September 25) and Munich (November 20).

According to Forbes contributor Georgiana Foster, for real success in the world of technology, entirely new products must be introduced that can create entirely new markets, thus impacting society on a much deeper level. At the moment, a lot of what she is seeing just doesn't do all that much. And for a trend that includes the word 'wearable' in its product description, she claims she honestly wouldn't be caught dead in a lot of it.

There seems to be a huge gap between what is being made and what the female consumer, in particular, would be willing to purchase, Foster continues. "Almost everything available is currently too chunky and masculine. The products seem to be aimed at men with a vague hope that (maybe) some women might like them. Let's think about who, between men and women, is more likely to wear an accessory, or even multiple accessories at the same time to begin with. Surely the answer is transparently obvious."

Design needs to be a much more important factor when it comes to wearable technology, in order for it to appeal to absolutely everyone, including women. Foster can't help but wonder if it's a case of the tech industry simply needing more female designers? But even more crucially, these products need a real use and purpose. In this new digital age, what a brand actually means is just as, if not more, important to the consumer than simply what it does. It doesn't take a genius to predict that the brand that manages to reach equilibrium between style and substance holds the key to tech world domination, she concludes.

Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014, "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion," will examine wearable technologies' functions, application, the competition and possibilities for economic and personal growth. NanoMarkets Announces the Release of New Report, "Markets for Metal Meshes as Transparent Conductors 2014"

Industry analyst firm NanoMarkets has released a new report on the transparent conductor (TC) market that claims that metal meshes will generate $327 in revenues in 2020.

Glen Allen, Virginia (January 22, 2014) -- Industry analyst firm NanoMarkets has released a new report on the transparent conductor (TC) market that claims that metal meshes will generate $327 in revenues in 2020. According to NanoMarkets, metal meshes have overcome the technical issues that had previously limited their expansion into a variety of TC applications and are poised to become a strong niche contender among the choice of ITO alternatives.

About the Report:

NanoMarkets is issuing this special industry analysis report on the markets for metal meshes. This report contains a granular seven-year forecast of the metal mesh market, with break outs by volume and value and the type of application.

We also discuss the strategies of the growing number of metal mesh manufacturers, many of which have recently reported performance improvements in recent months. This report takes a look at all these companies and evaluates their offerings, capabilities, and readiness for volume production.

Companies addressed include 3M (United States), Atmel (United States), Dai Nippon Printing (Japan), Epigem (UK), Fujifilm (Japan), Gunze (Japan), Hitachi Chemical (Japan), JTOUCH Corporation (Taiwan), Mirae Nanotech (Korea), O-film Tech Co. (China), PolyIC (Germany), Rolith (United States), Toppan (Japan), UniPixel (United States), Visual Planet (UK), Young Fast (Taiwan) and Zytronic (United States)

From the Report

The use of metal meshes as transparent conductors has increased in the past year and NanoMarkets believes that the technology will continue to gain market share. The greatest opportunity today is in touch screen display sensors, but the firm expects OLED lighting and PV technologies to take on a greater importance toward the end of the forecast period. Other applications that can use metal meshes are transparent EMI shielding, where printed meshes can replace etched copper grids, and transparent heating films, where metal-based TCs have the advantage of faster heating rates than ITO.

Metal meshes have overcome the technical issues that previously limited their expansion into a variety of TC applications, and many suppliers are entering the market. NanoMarkets also believes that metal meshes are now easier to manufacture than competing alternative transparent conductors.

In NanoMarkets' estimation metal meshes do have a role to play in the future of the TC market as a strong transparent conductor in several applications. However, the firm cautions that the metal mesh market should be viewed as a niche market that will take years to develop. In the firm's latest report, NanoMarkets projects that metal meshes are forecast to make up only 0.3 percent of the total TC market this year, building to 7.2 percent by the end of the forecast period.

About NanoMarkets:

NanoMarkets tracks and analyzes emerging markets in energy, electronics and other area created by developments in advanced materials. The firm is a recognized leader in industry analysis and forecasts of in the transparent conductor industry.

Google Smart Contact Lens Hot Topic at Golden Networking's New York Wearable Technologies Conference

Building off of the momentum of past successful conferences, Golden Networking takes Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com) global: New York City, San Francisco, London, Seoul and Munich, "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion".

New York City, NY, USA (January 17, 2014) -- According to USATODAY, Google's vision for wearable technology took another ambitious leap forward Thursday when the world's largest Internet search company announced it is developing a smart contact lens. The consequences of such as ambitious leap will be debated at Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion", forums to be held throughout 2014 in New York City (January 30), San Francisco (March 18), London (May 29), Seoul (September 25) and Munich (November 20).

The project is the latest invention to emerge from the company's Google X unit, which works on long-term, risky new technology that may never become commercially successful but has the potential to change the way people live in drastic ways. The unit has already produced self-driving cars and connected eyewear called Google Glass.

To make the contact lens, Google had to design its own tiny chips and mount them on very thin, flexible, plastic-like film. The chip and a sensor are embedded between two layers of soft contact lens material. A tiny pinhole in the lens lets tear fluid from the surface of the eye to seep into the glucose sensor. The prototypes can take a glucose level reading once every second, Google said. The project's co-founders, Brian Otis and Babak Parviz, worked together at the University of Washington. Parviz joined Google X to work on Google Glass and Otis followed soon after and started trying to build a contact lens from scratch.

Google said it has done "multiple studies" to test the comfort and functionality of the lens and explore how tear glucose correlates with blood glucose, particularly in people with diabetes. It is also talking about the technology with the Food & Drug Administration; this will be discussed at Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014, forums to be held throughout 2014 in New York City (January 30), San Francisco (March 18), London (May 29), Seoul (September 25) and Munich (November 20).

New York City is World's Wearable Tech Capital on January 30 before San Francisco, Munich and Seoul

Building off of the momentum of past successful conferences, Golden Networking takes Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com) global: New York City, San Francisco, London, Seoul and Munich, "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion".

New York City, NY, USA (January 17, 2014) -- There are thousands of reasons why New York is the capital of the world. One more is coming this January 30. New York City will become the wearable technologies capital as it gets ready to host Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion", forums to be held throughout 2014 first there on January 30 and later in San Francisco (March 18), London (May 29), Seoul (September 25) and Munich (November 20).

The future is here at Wearable Computing Conference 2014 with the production of a new generation of technologies such as Google Glass, Apple "iWatch" and Samsung Galaxy Gear, among others, that will allow users to interact with computing devices that are worn by the bearer under, with or on top of clothing. The introduction of smart watches and glasses bring upon economic, social and personal effects that will revolutionize the human experience.

The use of technology has greatly expanded out of the workplace into users' daily lives. Now the integration of human experience and wearable computing will allow users to enhance each experience. This new wave of technologies will ignite an explosion of innovation which will be the key to advancement for mankind.

Credit Suisse semiconductor analysts John Pitzer, Kulbinder Garcha, Christian Buss, and Stephen Ju offered six months ago an overview note on what they think is "the next big thing," the rise of sophisticated wearable technology, such as smart watches, and other accessories. The authors contended that while "wearables," as they call them, are "not new," nevertheless, they are "at an inflection point in market adoption" because there is a growing installed base of smartphones, cost and performance improvements are coming in components, there is more mature software to run them, and there are new business models for them. The wearables market is a lot bigger than investors realize, they contended, at perhaps $3 billion to $5 billion today, rising to perhaps $30 billion to $50 billion over the next three to five years.

Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014 will examine wearable technologies' functions, application, the competition and possibilities for economic and personal growth.Wearable Computing Conference 2014 is produced by Golden Networking (http://www.goldennetworking.net), the premier networking community for business and technology executives, entrepreneurs and investors.Panelists, speakers and sponsors are invited to contact Golden Networking by sending an email to information@goldennetworking.com.

Google Glass Explorer Not Guilty for Speeding Ticket to Speak at New York Wearable Tech Conference

Building off of the momentum of past successful conferences, Golden Networking takes Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (www.wearable-computing-conference.com) global: New York City, San Francisco, London, Seoul and Munich, "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion".

New York City, NY, USA (January 17, 2014) -- As reported by NBC, Cecilia Abadie, the Southern California woman cited for wearing Internet-connected eyeglasses while driving, was found not guilty; a San Diego traffic court commissioner found there was not enough evidence presented to prove the device was activated at the time of the traffic stop.

"When I contacted her she was wearing a device on her face known as Google Glass," CHP Officer Keith Odle testified. "It was covering half of her right eye." Officer Odle and a representative from the CHP Academy in Sacramento testified on what they considered the safety concerns of the device - including the ability for the user to receive in-frame video chats - but San Diego Commissioner John Blair ruled they did not present enough evidence that Abadie was actually using the device when she was stopped. Abadie maintains she was simply wearing the device, which she does all the time, apparently. She said that the Glass activated when she looked up at the officer as he approached her vehicle.

Blair found Abadie not guilty, but he added that he felt the new device does fall under California Vehicle Code 27602. That particular section, according to CHP, states that it's against the law in California for a motorist to drive a car if a television monitor, screen or similar video monitors are turned on and visible to the driver.

Ms. Abadie, founder of 33Labs, will address hundreds of attendees to Golden Networking's Wearable Computing Conference 2014 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), "How Wearable Technologies are Revolutionizing Mobile Wireless Internet, Healthcare and Fashion", forums to be held throughout 2014 in New York City (January 30), San Francisco (March 18), London (May 29), Seoul (September 25) and Munich (November 20).

A passionate evangelizer about everything digital, Ms. Abadie is a Google Glass Explorer and Pioneer who spreads the word about wearable devices and the many ways they can change our world. As the founder of 33Labs, she leads a global development team that researches and develops wearable and mobile applications to deliver experiences that innovate and disrupt the personal and the enterprise realms. Ms. Abadie was born in Argentina and raised in Uruguay, which is where she got her Master Degree on Information Systems and where she began her career as an international software consultant and developer. She immigrated to the United States of America ten years ago and is currently living in Southern California.

Banned Fox News Guest Releases Statement on Senator Lindsey Graham Revelations

Raleigh, NC, USA (January 15, 2014) -- Contact: Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC): Press@alipac.us / (866) 703-0864

Prior Fox News guest William Gheen is issuing a statement in response to The Wall Street Journal's report of January 14, 2014, written by Laura Meckler that reveals Fox News banned guests who are opponents of amnesty for illegal immigrants and political opponents of Senator Lindsey Graham.

The article indicates (click here to read) that after Rupert Murdoch, owner of Fox News, came out in support of immigration reform amnesty three years ago, the CEO of Fox News Roger Ailes met several times with Senator Lindsey Graham to discuss controlling the content of Fox News in favor of amnesty legislation.

"I knew that I was banned from Fox News for my prior successful efforts opposing amnesty legislation," said William Gheen. "I am glad that Senator Lindsey Graham is now telling people the truth even though I believe he is boasting when he reveals how Roger Ailes banned people like me to help Graham pass amnesty legislation that would permanently destroy America's borders and permanently displace most Fox News viewers in American jobs and elections! I hope that all Americans will be warned that Fox News is neither fair nor balanced, and that totalitarian steps are being taken to silence the voices representing the views of most Fox News viewers."

William Gheen last appeared on Fox News, after being a regular guest for many years, as the first in studio guest on the historic Election Day of November 2, 2010. While banned from Fox News and other major networks that all support nation destroying amnesty for illegal aliens, ALIPAC and William Gheen continue to broadcast to hundreds of thousands of Americans via social media and email alerts found at http://www.alipac.us.

Anyone that would like to record a complaint about the unethical steps taken by Fox News to silence the opponents of illegal immigrant amnesty can call 888-369-4762.

Federal Candidates Weigh In Against Immigration Reform Amnesty For Illegal Aliens

Washington, DC, USA (January 14, 2014) -- Contact: Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC): Press@alipac.us / (866) 703-0864

An unprecedented number of federal candidates are responding to Americans for Legal Immigration PAC's (ALIPAC) federal candidate survey this year indicating they support the adequate enforcement of America's existing immigration and border laws instead of any form of amnesty for illegal immigrants.

"We already have 20 candidates weighing in against immigration reform amnesty for undocumented immigrants," said William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. "It is clear that many Republican primary candidates are addressing the public's desire for Congress to support existing laws instead of conceding our laws, Constitution, and borders to lawlessness brought on by illegal immigration."

ALIPAC was founded on September 11 of 2004, making 2014 the national organization's sixth election cycle. ALIPAC is America's best known political action committee addressing the topics of illegal immigration, immigration laws, and border security.

ALIPAC's more than 50 thousand e-mail list subscribers and more than 200,000 social media subscribers are being asked to circulate the group's 2014 candidate survey to candidates running for US Congress and Senate in each state. This survey asks only one question of concern. (click here for survey copy)

The first surveys received for 2014 can be found online (Click Here). Early responses included candidates running against illegal alien amnesty supporters like Representatives John Boehner, Renee Ellmers, Greg Walden, and Ami Bera, as well as Amnesty supporting Senators like Lindsey Graham and Mitch McConnell!

"We are now calling for candidates to run against every immigration reform amnesty supporting incumbent in America!" said William Gheen. "The real truth is that the vast majority of America's voters in 2014 want enforcement of our immigration laws, not some path to citizenship and voting rights for 20 million illegals that will devastate our borders forevermore!"

ALIPAC is currently endorsing more than 130 members of Congress who are standing up against the Obama, Boehner, and Rubio backed immigration reform amnesty. (click here for current endorsements)

ALIPAC is also asking all American voters, conservatives groups, and Tea Party groups to target all Democrats and the 35 Republican members of Congress that support immigration reform amnesty for removal from office in the 2014 elections!
