Las Vegas, NV, January 18, 2011 -- The International Association For Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine (IAPAM) has surveyed its membership, its medical faculty, and has consulted with numerous experts in aesthetic medicine, to develop a forecast for the top aesthetic medicine treatments or trends physicians can expect to see in 2011. Ultimately, physicians who add body transformation modalities such as minimally-invasive body shaping options or hCG for weight loss, and high income/low capital expense options such as medical grade chemical peels and physician directed skin care, will position themselves for growth in 2011.

The market for all minimally invasive procedures, from botox to laser hair removal to ultrasound fat reduction will continue to out perform surgical options in 2011. 2. Medical Weight Loss Grows

People will continue to focus on their own health in 2011. "Adult obesity rates rose in 28 states over the past year," reports the annual , F as in Fat 2010 study. New NanoMarkets Report Says the Electronics Industry Will Consume $1.3 Billion in Conductive Polymers by 2016

January 18, 2011, Glen Allen, Virginia -- According to a new report from industry analyst firm NanoMarkets, sales of conductive polymers to the electronics industry will reach $1.3 billion ($US) by 2016 as polymer firms diversify away from low-performance materials and look for higher-margin opportunities. NanoMarkets believes that the conductive polymer industry will be able to meet this goal by reducing costs and increasing performance in a number of key electronics and optoelectronics sectors. - If low-cost roll-to-roll (R2R) printing processes and simpler device architectures can be effectively deployed for use with polymer OLEDs, conductive polymers will generate $295 million in sales to the OLED sector by 2016 for use in OLED displays and OLED lighting.

- Conductive polymers, used principally as electrodes, can boost energy and power densities for batteries, fuel cells, capacitors and supercapacitors, enabling weight and size reduction for some of these devices. By 2016, energy storage applications will account for almost $190 million in conductive polymer sales.

- NanoMarkets sees conductive polymers as a key enabling technology for enhancing advanced sensors performance. This may occur through the use of polymer sensing materials or in the use organic electronic devices such as ChemFETs and polymer memories. Sales of conductive polymers will reach $105 million by 2016 for sensor applications.

Often branded as a class of “miracle” advanced materials that will transform electronics and photovoltaics, conductive polymers have decidedly mixed record. The early expectations for the role of polymer-based PV, or conductive polymers as a transparent conductive coating, have never been met. And in other areas of organic electronics, polymer materials – areas such as OLEDs and OTFTs – polymers have played second fiddle to small molecule materials. This is about to change.

-Slow down while you eat. If you consciously stop to take a breath between bites, you can cut your food (and calorie) intake by 10 percent, according to researchers at the University of Rhode Island. It takes 20 minutes for the news that you have had enough to eat to travel from your gut to your brain. Another tip, try talking more between bites.

HIV Reservoirs Cure Research – More Investments Are Needed

Toulon, France, January 12, 2010 -- With great effort and research into how to fight the HIV virus, important advancements in treatment have been made. What used to be a near-automatic death sentence is no longer the case. With the right mixture of medicines, an HIV-positive person can now live much longer than before. The HIV asymptomatic periods are now much longer than before as well, thanks to HIV research. While all of this great work does not mean an outright cure has been found, the fact that HIV-positive people can continue to live normal lives means extraordinary progress has been achieved.

Antiretroviral therapy has been very successful in lengthening the diseases free periods in those who are HIV-positive; however, HIV infection persists for life, and every time therapy is stopped, the HIV rekindles and becomes active again. These HIV reservoirs of viruses must be dealt with.  If left unchecked for too long, the mechanisms leading to full blown AIDS start again and severe health problems occur. Therefore, more HIV research is needed to attack these reservoirs with new medications, and that can only happen if more research and development can be put into the project. HIV suppression has worked so far, but additional research could yield a medication that targets directly the HIV latency period. We must be committed to funding additional research.

Without a preventive vaccine on the horizon, HIV’s pandemic is not controlled and could turn into something far more major and devastating. This isn’t just a problem in a few industrialized nations; HIV is a worldwide problem, and it’ll take a global effort to eradicate this terrible disease. Scientists can do their part by continuing to do research on new strategies against HIV; doctors can evaluate the effectiveness of each medication patients can continue to use these products and explain to the doctors what works and what doesn’t. Also, government agencies can make it easier for scientists by showing a real and concrete political will to cure the disease.

In addition to political and medical support, HIV research requires a fair amount of financial support. Developing new kinds of drugs takes some time and huge financial efforts, but with a global commitment, the HIV reservoirs can be dealt with in  timely manner, the HIV latency period can be therapeutically targeted, which means reaching a ‘functional cure’ at least for millions of people living with HIV on a regular basis. While HIV persistence is inevitable in those who are HIV-positive, the right treatment will make it seem as if the virus is not affecting them at all, and one of the goals is to allow these HIV-positive people to lead as normal a life as they possibly can.  With more time, effort, and financial support, we can also achieve a cure and total HIV eradication.  However, that journey begins with a single step in the right direction.
