Breast Enlargements Laid Bare In New MyFaceMyBody Survey

Cosmetic dentistry, surgery and aesthetics experts MyFaceMyBody have uncovered the truth behind breast enlargements in their latest survey.

London, UK, October 07, 2011 -- Cosmetic dentistry, surgery and aesthetics experts MyFaceMyBody have uncovered the truth behind breast enlargements in their latest survey.

The survey - which polled 115 women on their reasons behind considering breast augmentation - revealed that the media plays the largest part in influencing desire for cosmetic surgery procedures.

A whopping 73 per cent of women replied that pictures of celebrities and models' perfect breasts in magazines and on television convinced them that an augmentation was the way forward. Meanwhile, 47 per cent reported that they believed models and celebrities with larger breasts had far more success in their chosen careers than those with smaller assets.

The MyFaceMyBody survey also revealed that women across the UK felt under increasing pressure to splash out on their appearance thanks to the numerous images of perfect figures, skin and teeth that they come across in the media.

As for what women would be willing to pay to achieve their ideal look - it seems that no price can be put on beauty and confidence. A surprising 33 per cent of ladies reported that they would spend 'as much as it took' in order to achieve a look they were happy with. Forty per cent were willing to spend up to £5,000 on cosmetic procedures, with breast enlargements topping the charts as one of the most sought-after.

For some women, it was less about the media and more about pleasing their picky partners. Thirty-three per cent of women responding to the MyFaceMybody survey said that their partner wished they had larger boobs, and that they frequently admired the assets of starlets including Kelly Brook, Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johansson.

Stephen Handisides, presenter at MyFaceMyBody, said, “We always knew that a large percentage of women are unhappy with their boobs, but what was a shock was the amount of women prepared to spend ‘as much as it took’ to get the boobs of their dreams.

There are actually solutions for better boobs no matter what your budget - from ‘boob job bras’ to full-on breast augmentation,” he added.

FPL Electric Vehicle Summit Addresses Planning for Mainstream Adoption of Electric Vehicles

As part of its commitment to support the growing use of electric-powered vehicles in Florida, FPL hosted the Electric Vehicle (EV) Stakeholder Summit this week in conjunction with the South Florida and Treasure Coast Regional Planning Councils, and Gold Coast Clean Cities Coalition.

Juno Beach, FL, October 07, 2011 -- As part of its commitment to support the growing use of electric-powered vehicles in Florida, FPL hosted the Electric Vehicle (EV) Stakeholder Summit this week in conjunction with the South Florida and Treasure Coast Regional Planning Councils, and Gold Coast Clean Cities Coalition.

Communities will soon be able to take full advantage of energy-efficient electric vehicles with the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt available now, and almost every major car manufacturer planning to launch at least one EV model within the next year. Experts said that adoption of these and other EVs is expected to ramp up gradually in Florida over the next few years.

The EV Summit brought together community leaders, representatives from leading automakers, such as Nissan, Ford and General Motors, and industry experts to begin preparing for the vehicles’ arrival and their effect on local communities. This includes “fueling,” or charging, EVs; permitting and inspections of charging stations; providing affordable, reliable and clean electric service; charging at multi-family dwellings, fleet conversions and more.

Planning for long-term energy growth is part of our core business and the introduction of electric vehicles is something we take into consideration,” said Brian Hanrahan, FPL’s Director of In-Home Technologies and Electric Vehicles. “We continue to evaluate the best approach to meet the emerging needs of this technology by studying the market and actively engaging with automotive manufacturers, local governments and other agencies.”

Conference participants discussed the role communities will play and the challenges that go with new technologies, including streamlining permitting and inspection processes for home charging, accommodating multi-unit dwellings, and converting business fleets for increased efficiencies.

"Electric vehicles are one of the key alternatives to gasoline-powered vehicles that will help improve air quality in the State, and we are particularly pleased to assist our communities in Southeast Florida to prepare for these new technological advances," said Christine Heshmati, Coordinator for the Gold Coast Clean Cities Coalition. “Through public-private partnerships, we find that we are able to accomplish the Coalition’s mission to reduce our dependence on imported oil and improve the environment. Educational events like this EV Summit are just one example of how effective these partnerships are.”

EV Summit organizers outlined the following benefits of EVs nationally and in Florida:
Environmental - emission-free operation dramatically reduces air pollution and the many problems association with greenhouse gases;
Cost - the cost to power an EV is roughly 80 percent less than fueling a conventional vehicle, plus reduced ongoing maintenance costs
Technology - smooth, fast acceleration makes EVs fun to drive, plus availability of smart phone applications that track charging levels and control certain vehicle functions
Reduced dependence on foreign fuels

In addition, Southeast Florida is one of 16 regions in 24 states and the District of Columbia to receive a grant from U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. In his announcement, Secretary Chu said, "By developing the next generation of automotive engineers and preparing communities for plug-in electric vehicles, these projects will help reduce our nation's dependence on oil imports, create jobs, and help America capture the growing global market for advanced vehicles."

FPL operates one of the largest green fleets of any investor-owned utility, with more than 1,500 biodiesel-powered vehicles and almost 400 hybrid-electric or plug-in electric vehicles. In 2006, FPL became the first U.S. company to put a medium-duty hybrid bucket truck into service; and in 2008, deployed its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and first plug-in hybrid electric bucket truck. At the 2009 Clinton Global Initiative, FPL committed to transition its entire fleet of more than 2,400 company cars and trucks to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles by 2020. Super-Rich Being Taught To Invest in Alternatives, Claims AAA

Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) has backed reports that suggest that the young super-rich are being ‘trained’ to invest in alternatives, such as art and real estate.

Boston, MA, USA, October 06, 2011 -- Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) has backed reports that suggest that the young super-rich are being ‘trained’ to invest in alternatives, such as art and real estate.

The research firm has identified a new trend for young Russian, Arab, Chinese and South Asian heirs to undergo tutoring on how to handle the fortunes they are in line to inherit. One such event took place at Christie’s auction house in London recently, where the young heirs were put through their paces at a simulated auction, while a genuine auction of a valuable painting was taking place in the auction room below.

These skill are thought to be increasingly important among the super-rich, according to AAA, which advocates investing in alternative asset classes. The group's analysis partner, Anthony Johnson, said, “Being able to spot and bid for a valuable piece of art, which could prove to be a wise investment in years to come, could be a great skill to learn for these young people. One day they will be responsible to protecting their family fortunes from the risks involved in the current traditional investment markets.”

The auction event was organized by Citi’s private banking arm. Citi art finance manager, Suzanne Gyorgy, explained, "[Trading art is] a way for them to get liquidity out of the art collection to invest back into their business or buy other new business.”

A report from Merrill Lynch and Capgemini issued in June claimed that the super-rich were now increasingly interested in buying art, rare watches, champagne and vintage cars – not for fun or prestige, but simply for their potential as assets and investments. Mr Johnson added, “These assets are seen as a safe haven for money and are selling for higher and higher prices, while stocks and shares are proving exceptionally unstable as an asset class.”

AAA gives the example of forestry investment, through firms like Greenwood Management, as a safer alternative investment that regularly produces returns that exceed those from traditional investments.

FPL's Shopping List Can Help You Save Energy and Money

FPL’s Danielle Mousseau recently visited a local home improvement store with the goal of spending $100 on energy-efficient products.

Juno Beach, FL, October 05, 2011 -- If you've ever wondered if it’s worth spending the extra few dollars to buy energy efficient products, one bargain-savvy shopper says 'absolutely' - and she’s tallied the savings to prove it.

FPL’s Danielle Mousseau recently visited a local home improvement store with the goal of spending $100 on energy-efficient products.

As someone who finds home improvement stores a little daunting, I knew I needed to be prepared. I brought a list with me so I knew exactly what I was looking for, and so I could get the most savings for the money,” she said.

Here’s a look at Danielle’s shopping list:

5 Compact fluorescent light bulbs
Estimated Cost: $15
Energy Savings:$250/lifetime

1 Low flow shower head
Estimated Cost: $30
Energy Savings: $80/year

3 Faucet aerators

Energy Savings: $15/ year

Weather stripping
and door sweeps
Estimated Cost: $40
Energy Savings: $50/year

1 Water heater
pipe insulation kit
Estimated Cost: $5
Energy Savings: $14/year
Cost $98 Total Energy Savings $409

For less than $100, Mousseau managed to purchase products that, over their lifetime, will save her $409 – that’s more than a 400 percent return on her quick shopping trip.

The idea I want to share with people is that making just a few small changes around your home can make a big difference - both for saving energy and money,” she said. “As an FPL customer, I know I have the lowest electric bill in Florida, and making a few small energy efficient changes at home helps me to make it even lower.”

If you choose to make bigger changes, and somewhat larger investments - things like computer monitors, laser printers and copiers - you can realize even greater savings. Mousseau says products that have an “Energy Star” rating can save you at least 30 percent compared to traditional products.

If you want a chance to go on your own energy efficient mini-shopping spree, visit http://www.facebook.com/fplconnect on Facebook for your chance to be one of five winners each week in October to win $100 home improvement gift card.

Zevrix Updates LinkOptimizer for InDesign, Adds Selective Layer Processing

Zevrix Solutions announces LinkOptimizer 4.6, a feature update to its popular workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. Awarded 4 out of 5 starts by Computer Arts magazine, LinkOptimizer allows to reduce InDesign job size and speed up processing by eliminating excess image data, performing essential image adjustments and converting file formats automatically. The new version lets users ignore or process images on specific layers of InDesign document.

Toronto (ON), Canada - October 5, 2011 -- Zevrix Solutions today announces the release of LinkOptimizer 4.6, a feature update to its popular workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. Awarded 4 out of 5 starts by Computer Arts magazine, LinkOptimizer automates complex image manipulation tasks allowing to significantly reduce the size of InDesign job, save processing time and reduce production costs.

"For those wanting to quickly optimize their images and cut down on processing time, LinkOptimizer is a very smart choice," concludes Computer Arts.

The new version introduces selective layer processing letting users ignore or process images on specific layers of InDesign document.

LinkOptimizer works automatically with Adobe Photoshop to eliminate the excess image data of InDesign links, perform essential image adjustments and convert various image formats. For example, with just a click of a button users can:

-scale and crop images to match their dimensions in InDesign,
-change their resolution to 300 ppi,
-convert all RGB images to CMYK,
-resave all JPEG images as TIFF,
-run a Photoshop Action on each image.

At the end of processing, LinkOptimizer will reimport images to InDesign at 100% in their precise position. In addition, the software can apply sharpening filters, merge layers and delete hidden ones, and process copies of InDesign documents and links instead of original files. As a result, users can save gigabytes of disk space and countless hours of optimizing images manually, accelerate document output, reduce job turnaround and cut costs through faster processing.

Pricing and Availability:
LinkOptimizer can be purchased from Zevrix website for US$259.95 as well as from authorized resellers. Trial is also available for download. The update is free for LinkOptimizer 4.x users and $98.78 to upgrade from previous versions. FRA Supports Call To End Export Of Raw Logs

Forestry Research Associates (FRA) is lending its support to the forestry workers of British Colombia, Canada, who are calling for an end to the export of raw logs to China for processing.

Seattle, United States, October 05, 2011 -- Forestry Research Associates (FRA) is lending its support to the forestry workers of British Colombia, Canada, who are calling for an end to the export of raw logs to China for processing.

The workers are concerned that the practice could threaten the future of the region’s forestry industry. Those calling for the ban on the activity marched from the Pulp, Paper and Woodworkers of Canada (PPWC) union hall to the offices of Western Forest Products, which is responsible for some of the raw log exports.

One former worker who is campaigning against the practice, Don Robertson, said, "This industry has been almost destroyed due to raw log exports. I think all of our mills should be running and doing all the processing here so we can keep the jobs in B.C."

Peter Collins, an analyst at FRA, a research and analysis consultancy that promotes sustainable approaches to forestry around the world, said, “It’s vital that the Canadian Government takes measures to safeguard the future of the British Colombian forestry industry for generations to come.”

He added, “FRA is backing the workers all the way on this issue - the processing of the timber needs to be done in Canada, rather than outsourced to China to ensure forestry workers have jobs to do.”

FRA pointed to the concerning figures that show log exports increasing by 50 per cent last year alone, which by itself is not necessarily a negative thing, but it could be more positive if the processing work remained in Canada.

The president of the PPWC union, Arnold Bercov, said that policymakers need to take a “good hard look” at the likely repercussions if the practice of exporting raw logs for processing in China is not banned or at least reduced.

AAA Supports BBC Report On Impact Investing

People living below the poverty line in India could benefit as a result of impact investing, according to Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) and a new report by the BBC.

Boston, MA, USA, October 05, 2011 -- People living below the poverty line in India could benefit as a result of impact investing, according to Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) and a new report by the BBC.

AAA has said that the new report from the BBC concludes that impact investing is a useful means of helping more of the world's poor work their way out of poverty and into the middle classes. Impact investing does this by providing small businesses and social enterprises with the financial strength they need to expand and employ more people in developing countries.

Many such businesses find it difficult to secure bank loans or other traditional routes of finance. However, impact investment funds, which are sometimes run by some of the world’s most influential and wealthy people, can provide a lifeline.

The BBC report used the example of a businessman called Virender Kumar who runs a small business sorting plastics for recycling, which employs several local people. He wants to expand his business but lacks the finance to do so. This is exactly the kind of enterprise that impact investing could help.

AAA’s analysis partner Anthony Johnson stated, “Impact investing is not only a cutting edge and very effective way to help those in developing countries to work themselves out of poverty, it is also an extremely popular alternative investment route for investors with a social and environmental.

The beauty of impact investment is that a small loan can make a huge difference to a community, explained Mr Johnson. He added, “Small loans can help small businesses take on more employees, whose children can then go to school instead of being sent out to work, which helps to make communities better-educated and stronger in the long run."

Now, JP Morgan and The Times of India are teaming up to launch an award for businesses that have a major social impact. Awards organizer Rahul Kansal told the BBC, “Increasingly we are seeing that in a country like India, there are avenues like healthcare, education, civic areas like waste management which need attention.

"The government cannot cope with the size of the problem. This is where organizations both for profit and non-profit can step in,” he added.

HIV Eradication Research - Is a Cure Close?

Although a cure is not yet within reach, experts are optimistic that they will unlock the secret to eradicating HIV with in the near future.

Toulon, France, October 01, 2011 -- Although great strides have been made in the area of HIV eradication research, some experts still estimate that as much as 70% of the individuals infected with HIV are not receiving treatment. This means that HIV is still claiming the lives of scores of individuals throughout the world. Although the treatments that are available have proven to be effective at prolonging an individual's life so that HIV does not automatically mean a death sentence, there is still a long way to go before a cure is reached. Fortunately, great strides been made and there is a chance that an HIV cure will be found in our lifetimes.

Researchers are focusing on four primary approaches when it comes to HIV eradication research. The first approach is simply to provide patients with more HIV medications. This means providing the necessary drugs to individuals who have been unable to receive treatment and to concentrate on the medications that have proven to be effective. Another approach involves therapeutic vaccines. These are also referred to as immune modulators and work in a similar way to the vaccines that we are all accustomed to. They help to improve the body's natural ability to fight off HIV.

One of the things that researchers have been struggling to understand is why the medications that are currently available have not proven to be a cure for HIV. One idea is that the virus goes into hiding which is why a third approach being used by researchers is to use drugs that force the virus out of hiding so that the drugs and the body's immune system can work together to kill all the infected cells. Finally, researchers are using inflammation blockers to block the chronic inflammatory condition that individuals experience even when undergoing drug therapy. Researchers believe that this inflammation can lead to the persistence of the virus.

Although a cure is not yet within reach, experts are optimistic that they will unlock the secret to eradicating HIV with in the near future. Unfortunately, HIV eradication research is not something that is inexpensive or quick. It takes massive amounts of money and the dedication of skilled researchers and scientists which is why it is important that the focus on obtaining a cure not be lost. Even though HIV may not have the same deadly results in this country as it did only a few decades ago, it is still killing people throughout the world which is why it is so important to keep searching for a cure.

AAA Shows Support For Women's Alternative Investment Summit

Alternative Asset Analysis has announced its support for the return of the Women’s Alternative Investment Summit to New York in November.

Boston, MA, USA, September 30, 2011 -- Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) is welcoming the return of the Women’s Alternative Investment Summit to New York in November.

The summit, which is in its third year, attracted a huge crowd of some 250 executives and other influential women who were keen to explore alternative investments in more detail.

This year’s meeting in Midtown Manhattan will include keynote speeches on several different kinds of alternative investments, including real estate, private equity and hedge funds.

Some 50 speakers will take to the stage over the course of the two-day event, which will run from 3-4 November, explained AAA, which supports the promotion of alternative assets as a valid and lucrative alternative to traditional investments such as stocks and shares.

In these volatile times, it’s important that everyone reviews their investment portfolio to ensure it is well diversified to minimize their exposure to risk,” stated AAA’s analysis partner, Anthony Johnson.

Some of the topic to be discussed at the summit will include ‘Real Estate Portfolio Management,’ ‘Will Institutional Investors Continue to Warm to Hedge Funds’ and ‘Global Private Equity: How Regions Measure Up by Performance.’

Some of the exhibitors expected at the summit include private equity and real estate firm Landmark Partners, who are returning for their second year, and Ascendant Compliance Management, which is attending for its first year.

AAA is a particularly active advocate of ethical investments and offers forestry investment as a strong option for anyone looking to reduce the risk in their portfolio while helping to reduce deforestation. Forestry investment projects, such as the one operated by Greenwood Management, which involves managing plantations in Brazil can help safeguard the future of the forestry industry. This kind of managed approached to sustainable forestry help spread the world that there can be value in standing trees as well as in timber, according to AAA.
