RadiantBrands Co-Founder to Address Bay Area Consultants Network on “Who Loves Your Brand?”

Brand Expert Steven Donaldson to Explain “What Makes You Cool?” and How to Apply it To Your Consulting Business.

BERKELEY, Calif. (October 11, 2011) -- Steven Donaldson, cofounder of RadiantBrands (http://www.radiantbrands.com), a full-service creative branding and design agency, will address the Bay Area Consultants Network (BACN, http://www.bacnetwork.com) on “Who Loves Your Brand?” Donaldson will explain what makes a product of company cool, and how to develop brand loyalty. The event will be held at The Club at McInnis Park Golf Center in San Rafael, California, on October 28th from 7:30 to 10:00.

For more than a decade, Donaldson has been working with marquis brands such as Hewlett Packard, Wells Fargo, John Muir Health, Smithsonian, Cost Plus World Market, Pet Food Express, and Ask Jeeves, helping them differentiate their goods and services. In this presentation, Donaldson will talk about what he has learned about what makes a company or label cool, and how to connect with brand evangelists who are most relevant to your target market.

Donaldson has defined a methodology for identifying brand loyalists by defining their key personality characteristics and behaviors. By creating persona profiles, you can identify your most valued customers, including what they are looking for and what you have to offer. For consultants, this means:

- Defining the attributes specific to your practice and that are most valued by your best clients; identifying those factors that add value to what you do.

- Understanding how to develop profiles of your target market, including age, demographics, lifestyle, and more, and how to communicate with each persona

- Determining the best way to reach out to these different target groups, such as by phone, social media, email, word of mouth, or other means.

Building cool brands such as Apple or Trader Joe’s doesn't happen by accident,” sale Donaldson. “These household names are able to create rabid fans because they understand how to describe their unique value and express that value proposition to a targeted group in a manner that turns customers into rabid fans. From there, the rabid fans carry the message to others with the same demographic profile, and the process continues to build until your ‘cool factor’ crystallizes.”

The Ten Dirty Words to Avoid on a Date

Dating Expert Rich Gosse keynotes Singles Extravaganza, November 19, 2011, at the Hyatt Regency San Francisco.

San Rafael, CA - October 09, 2011 -- Contact: Tom Andrews, 415/507-9962

“Being too honest, early in dating, will sabotage most relationships,” says Rich Gosse, America’s foremost authority on finding a romantic partner. “Nobody fantasizes about a romantic relationship with someone who has flaws. They visualize someone perfect. If you reveal your imperfections too early, you will lose any chance of success.”

Mr. Gosse will reveal THE TEN DIRTY WORDS TO AVOID ON A DATE:

1. AGE, especially if you are a woman. “Every man has a number in his head. If you tell him you are above this number, you are eliminated immediately. Do everything in your power to look younger, and, if you succeed, keep your age a secret.

2. UNEMPLOYED, particularly if you are a man. “During these tough economic times, men who have lost their jobs are at a terrific disadvantage. If a woman asks “what do you do?” answer Engineer, Attorney, Physician, or even Ditch Digger. But never volunteer that you are unemployed. If she asks point-blank, “do you have a job?” answer that you are “between jobs.”

3. ILLNESS. “Anything worse than a hang nail should be kept private as long as possible.”

4. ADDICTION “unless you know he/she shares your problem. Then it’s beneficial to reveal your addiction.”

5. INFIDELITY. “If you cheated before, your date will expect you will do the same again.”

6. EX. “Never mention your ex, unless it is absolutely necessary. It’s difficult to keep the bitterness out of your voice.”

7. CHILDREN. “No one wants to support your offspring.”

8. GRANDCHILDREN (if you are a woman). “Very few men man fantasize about grandmothers.”

9. SEX (if you are a man) “Most women are defensive on a first date and think that men only want one thing. Never mention that thing, if you want her to hang around long enough for you to have sex with her.”

10. MARRIAGE (if you are a woman). “Don't bring up a desire to be married during early dates. Most men will run to the hills!”

“Never lie, even on the first date,” says Mr. Gosse. “Relationships based on deceit don't survive. But be careful with the truth. Never shoot yourself in the foot. Never volunteer negative information, such as the items above. When do you finally reveal your flaws? After you hear the magic words I LOVE YOU. Then you can break the news that you're not perfect. It’s too late for them to dump you, because now they are addicted.”

Rich Gosse is Chairman of The Society of Single Professionals, the world’s largest non-profit singles organization. He is the author of eight books on dating, including You CAN Hurry Love, Singles Guide to America, and A Good Man Is EASY to Find “This is a great book!” Oprah Winfrey). Excessive Drinking Drowns Healthy Diet Intentions

New study looked at the drinking and eating habits of over 12,000 adults aged 18 to 64, and found that binge drinking, heavy drinking and drinking during meals were associated with bad nutrition.

New York, NY USA - October 08, 2011 -- HealthDay News recently highlighted a study that found a link between alcohol and poor diet. The study looked at the drinking and eating habits of over 12,000 adults aged 18 to 64, and found that binge drinking, heavy drinking and drinking during meals were associated with bad nutrition.

According to one study author, “Drinking alcohol may reduce maintaining a healthy diet.... [and] may indirectly contribute to several chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes mellitus, cardiovascular disease or cancer.” The study also found that alcohol was associated with insufficient consumption of healthy foods like fruits and vegetables, and excessive intake of fast foods and animal proteins.

“If your alcohol consumption is excessive or if you find it results in poor dietary choices, you need to reduce or stop your drinking,” says Tom Griesel, who with his sister Dian Griesel, Ph.D. is the author of the new book TurboCharged: Accelerate Your Fat Burning Metabolism, Get Lean Fast and Leave Diet and Exercise Rules in the Dust (April 2011, BSH). “This may seem a little radical, but if alcohol or anything else is affecting your health or keeping you from experiencing optimal health, you need to do something about it right away.”

Excessive alcohol consumption also has an adverse effect on sleep, Tom adds. If you drink and don't sleep well, it is a warning sign. For optimal health, he says, it’s important to get a good night’s sleep. Too much alcohol can disrupt sleep cycles.

“When reviewing your health habits, closely examine your alcohol consumption,” Dian suggests. “Alcohol is empty calories and is difficult for your body to process. Your body primarily treats alcohol as a toxic substance. It is not a necessary nutrient. Although we feel red wine is probably the best choice when it comes to alcohol, it can still be a serious health hazard if it results in poor diet choices or is consumed excessively.”

Enterprising Britons want to help drive growth of UK economy

Oneworklife.com reveals nearly 1 in 5 Britons want to be their own boss and start their own business.

London, UK, October 07, 2011 -- New research from careers advice and training courses provider oneworklife.com has found that nearly 1 in 5 (18%) UK workers want to start their own business, backing the government's call to entrepreneurs to kick start the economy.

The survey of over 2000 full and part-time employees highlights the East of the country as top for budding entrepreneurs, with a quarter of those in the East Midland and East Anglia wanting to take the leap and go it alone.

The desire to change career appears to come from a number of workers being stuck in dead-end jobs, or working for people they simply don't like. One in ten workers say they hate their boss, with one if five actually hating their job. Bosses in the West Midlands obviously need to change some bad habits, as one in six workers say they hate their boss. And a massive 26% of workers in Northern Ireland say they hate their job.

“These figures should be a real eye-opener for companies across the country,” commented Trevor Field of oneworklife.com. “I'm sure the Government will be delighted to see that there are so many people keen to set up their own businesses and drive this economy forward. But if bosses don't watch out, their disgruntled workers will turn into their competitors.”

Oneworklife.com launched earlier this year, and has already seen large numbers of people approach them, looking to retrain and upskill, as well as learn what it takes to run your own business.

Trevor Field said, “It's a great feeling when people have great ideas for their future and their business, and you make it happen.”

“Charity” Is The Winner In First Annual Miss Pacific Beach Contest

PB Millionaire's Event Focuses On Homeless Youth Project In San Diego.

San Diego, CA, October 07, 2011 -- The First Annual Miss Pacific Beach Contest was held at PB Bar & Grill on September 14th, where Charity Hodges was crowned the very first Miss Pacific Beach. The event, which was the brainchild of Jim Lawlor, locally known as the "PB Millionaire," was a huge success with a capacity turnout of about 400 people. In fact, the enthusiastic fans standing in line outside stretched around the block - some waiting for more than an hour to get in. (See video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ruv3JEaEK4)

It's appropriate that the winner’s name is 'Charity’, since the event was organized to bring awareness to San Diego’s homeless youth. One of Charity’s first duties will be to appear at the “Photo Charity National Walk and Concert” on November 12th organized by PhotoCharity (http://www.photocharity.org) to raise money for San Diego’s homeless youth.

Before the winner of the first Miss Pacific Beach contest was announced, Lawlor presented a check for $3000 to Jeffrey Sitcov, PhotoCharity organizer. Then awarding the winner, Charity Hodges, with a check for the same amount. Over the past ten years, Photocharity has raised over $1.6M to save homeless youth due mostly to corporate sponsors and private donors like Lawlor.

Lawlor is also the executive producer of the PB Reality Show (http://www.pbreality.com) which is filming the behind-the-scenes action of the Ms PB Contest, as well as Lawlor’s lifestyle of “living the California dream” - the theme of the show. His numerous parties at his home, a.k.a. the “PB Castle,” are also showcased in his reality series scheduled to be released this January.

Charity Hodges will be hosting Lawlor’s Halloween party at the PB Castle in late October and is also scheduled to appear in several other events as part of the PB Reality Show, including charity functions, throughout 2012 as part of her reign as Miss Pacific Beach.

Charity is no stranger to being in the public spotlight. She has appeared on the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men, numerous music videos and commercials, as well as, providing commentary and hosting responsibilities for various television shows. She's also graced the pages of Stuff, Maxim, Planet Muscle, as well as various swimsuit calendars.

Lawlor was one of the three judges that chose Charity as the winner and he feels very confident that he made the right decision. “We feel we made the right choice in choosing Charity and think she will be a prefect fit in fulfilling her duties and responsibilities as the very first Miss Pacific Beach,“ Lawlor said.

Breast Enlargements Laid Bare In New MyFaceMyBody Survey

Cosmetic dentistry, surgery and aesthetics experts MyFaceMyBody have uncovered the truth behind breast enlargements in their latest survey.

London, UK, October 07, 2011 -- Cosmetic dentistry, surgery and aesthetics experts MyFaceMyBody have uncovered the truth behind breast enlargements in their latest survey.

The survey - which polled 115 women on their reasons behind considering breast augmentation - revealed that the media plays the largest part in influencing desire for cosmetic surgery procedures.

A whopping 73 per cent of women replied that pictures of celebrities and models' perfect breasts in magazines and on television convinced them that an augmentation was the way forward. Meanwhile, 47 per cent reported that they believed models and celebrities with larger breasts had far more success in their chosen careers than those with smaller assets.

The MyFaceMyBody survey also revealed that women across the UK felt under increasing pressure to splash out on their appearance thanks to the numerous images of perfect figures, skin and teeth that they come across in the media.

As for what women would be willing to pay to achieve their ideal look - it seems that no price can be put on beauty and confidence. A surprising 33 per cent of ladies reported that they would spend 'as much as it took' in order to achieve a look they were happy with. Forty per cent were willing to spend up to £5,000 on cosmetic procedures, with breast enlargements topping the charts as one of the most sought-after.

For some women, it was less about the media and more about pleasing their picky partners. Thirty-three per cent of women responding to the MyFaceMybody survey said that their partner wished they had larger boobs, and that they frequently admired the assets of starlets including Kelly Brook, Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johansson.

Stephen Handisides, presenter at MyFaceMyBody, said, “We always knew that a large percentage of women are unhappy with their boobs, but what was a shock was the amount of women prepared to spend ‘as much as it took’ to get the boobs of their dreams.

“There are actually solutions for better boobs no matter what your budget - from ‘boob job bras’ to full-on breast augmentation,” he added.

Check out all sorts of information and advice on a range of surgical and non-surgical procedures to make you feel your best at http://www.myfacemybody.com.

FPL Electric Vehicle Summit Addresses Planning for Mainstream Adoption of Electric Vehicles

As part of its commitment to support the growing use of electric-powered vehicles in Florida, FPL hosted the Electric Vehicle (EV) Stakeholder Summit this week in conjunction with the South Florida and Treasure Coast Regional Planning Councils, and Gold Coast Clean Cities Coalition.

Juno Beach, FL, October 07, 2011 -- As part of its commitment to support the growing use of electric-powered vehicles in Florida, FPL hosted the Electric Vehicle (EV) Stakeholder Summit this week in conjunction with the South Florida and Treasure Coast Regional Planning Councils, and Gold Coast Clean Cities Coalition.

Communities will soon be able to take full advantage of energy-efficient electric vehicles with the Nissan Leaf and Chevy Volt available now, and almost every major car manufacturer planning to launch at least one EV model within the next year. Experts said that adoption of these and other EVs is expected to ramp up gradually in Florida over the next few years.

The EV Summit brought together community leaders, representatives from leading automakers, such as Nissan, Ford and General Motors, and industry experts to begin preparing for the vehicles’ arrival and their effect on local communities. This includes “fueling,” or charging, EVs; permitting and inspections of charging stations; providing affordable, reliable and clean electric service; charging at multi-family dwellings, fleet conversions and more.

“Planning for long-term energy growth is part of our core business and the introduction of electric vehicles is something we take into consideration,” said Brian Hanrahan, FPL’s Director of In-Home Technologies and Electric Vehicles. “We continue to evaluate the best approach to meet the emerging needs of this technology by studying the market and actively engaging with automotive manufacturers, local governments and other agencies.”

Conference participants discussed the role communities will play and the challenges that go with new technologies, including streamlining permitting and inspection processes for home charging, accommodating multi-unit dwellings, and converting business fleets for increased efficiencies.

"Electric vehicles are one of the key alternatives to gasoline-powered vehicles that will help improve air quality in the State, and we are particularly pleased to assist our communities in Southeast Florida to prepare for these new technological advances," said Christine Heshmati, Coordinator for the Gold Coast Clean Cities Coalition. “Through public-private partnerships, we find that we are able to accomplish the Coalition’s mission to reduce our dependence on imported oil and improve the environment. Educational events like this EV Summit are just one example of how effective these partnerships are.”

EV Summit organizers outlined the following benefits of EVs nationally and in Florida:
• Environmental - emission-free operation dramatically reduces air pollution and the many problems association with greenhouse gases;
• Cost - the cost to power an EV is roughly 80 percent less than fueling a conventional vehicle, plus reduced ongoing maintenance costs
• Technology - smooth, fast acceleration makes EVs fun to drive, plus availability of smart phone applications that track charging levels and control certain vehicle functions
• Reduced dependence on foreign fuels

In addition, Southeast Florida is one of 16 regions in 24 states and the District of Columbia to receive a grant from U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. In his announcement, Secretary Chu said, "By developing the next generation of automotive engineers and preparing communities for plug-in electric vehicles, these projects will help reduce our nation's dependence on oil imports, create jobs, and help America capture the growing global market for advanced vehicles."

FPL operates one of the largest green fleets of any investor-owned utility, with more than 1,500 biodiesel-powered vehicles and almost 400 hybrid-electric or plug-in electric vehicles. In 2006, FPL became the first U.S. company to put a medium-duty hybrid bucket truck into service; and in 2008, deployed its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle and first plug-in hybrid electric bucket truck. At the 2009 Clinton Global Initiative, FPL committed to transition its entire fleet of more than 2,400 company cars and trucks to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles by 2020. Super-Rich Being Taught To Invest in Alternatives, Claims AAA

Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) has backed reports that suggest that the young super-rich are being ‘trained’ to invest in alternatives, such as art and real estate.

Boston, MA, USA, October 06, 2011 -- Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) has backed reports that suggest that the young super-rich are being ‘trained’ to invest in alternatives, such as art and real estate.

The research firm has identified a new trend for young Russian, Arab, Chinese and South Asian heirs to undergo tutoring on how to handle the fortunes they are in line to inherit. One such event took place at Christie’s auction house in London recently, where the young heirs were put through their paces at a simulated auction, while a genuine auction of a valuable painting was taking place in the auction room below.

These skill are thought to be increasingly important among the super-rich, according to AAA, which advocates investing in alternative asset classes. The group's analysis partner, Anthony Johnson, said, “Being able to spot and bid for a valuable piece of art, which could prove to be a wise investment in years to come, could be a great skill to learn for these young people. One day they will be responsible to protecting their family fortunes from the risks involved in the current traditional investment markets.”

The auction event was organized by Citi’s private banking arm. Citi art finance manager, Suzanne Gyorgy, explained, "[Trading art is] a way for them to get liquidity out of the art collection to invest back into their business or buy other new business.”

A report from Merrill Lynch and Capgemini issued in June claimed that the super-rich were now increasingly interested in buying art, rare watches, champagne and vintage cars – not for fun or prestige, but simply for their potential as assets and investments. Mr Johnson added, “These assets are seen as a safe haven for money and are selling for higher and higher prices, while stocks and shares are proving exceptionally unstable as an asset class.”

AAA gives the example of forestry investment, through firms like Greenwood Management, as a safer alternative investment that regularly produces returns that exceed those from traditional investments.
