Rosendin Electric Receives National 2011 Transportation Design-Build Excellence Award from DBIA

Design-Build Institute of America Singles Out Mineta San Jose International Airport Terminal Renovation Project as Best in Class.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (October 27, 2011) -- Rosendin Electric (http://www.rosendin.com), the nation’s largest private electrical contractor and a 100% employee-owned company, has received a 2011 National Design-Build Award in Transportation from the Design-Build Institute of America in recognition for their work as a Specialty Contractor in the Mineta San Jose International Airport renovation project. The award was announced last week at the 2011 Design-Build Conference & Expo held in Orlando, Florida.

Rosendin Electric was responsible for installing new 12-kilovolt power systems for Terminal A, Terminal B, and the consolidated rent-a-car facility (ConRAC), a new security system, a new baggage handling system, telecommunications, a security camera system, and lighting controls. The contract also included all the emergency life safety power systems, a new campus-wide fire alarm system, energy efficient LED lighting in the existing Terminal A garage, traffic controls systems for the airport roadway, new passenger security check points, and new passenger boarding bridges. Rosendin Electric also installed more than 40,000 LED lights that can be programmed to provide a variety of lighting themes in a new meeter greeter area in Terminal A, where people can wait for arriving passengers. The new Terminal B Concourse received LEED® Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for sustainability features such as occupancy lighting sensors, a programmable lighting control system, and “smart” heating and cooling systems.

The $1.3 billion San Jose International Airport project featured more than $100 million in electrical work, which included construction of the new 1.8 million square-foot ConRAC and installation of the 1.12 megawatt photovoltaic (PV) solar system on the parking garage roof. At various project milestones, Rosendin Electric had more than 120 union electricians employed, with an average of 250,000 man hours.

To be considered for a National Design-Build Award, a project must demonstrate the successful application of design-build best practices as defined by the DBIA Design-Build Manual of Practice. Best practices include early integration of key team members during the proposal process via a proposal charrette or other collaborative outreach effort, as well as close coordination between design and construction team members from the design development stage through field construction.

IAPAM confirms that Botox ® Training Remains Strong Despite Economy

The IAPAM’s Aesthetic Medicine Symposiums trains physicians on how to safely, profitably and successfully add botox ®, hCG medical weight loss, and other aesthetic modalities (lasers for skin rejuvenation, microdermabrasion and medical-grade chemical peels) to an existing medical practice, or to launch a medical spa. The IAPAM helps physicians enter this lucrative market by offering the industry’s best botox ® training and hCG training in sunny Scottsdale, AZ. To date, all of the 2011 IAPAM’s Aesthetic Medicine Symposium events have sold out.

Las Vegas, NV, October 27, 2011 -- The IAPAM’s Aesthetic Medicine Symposium (http://www.aestheticmedicinesymposium.com) has long offered physicians a competitive advantage through its comprehensive, hands-on, “immersion” into the field of aesthetic medicine. The IAPAM’s (http://www.iapam.com) Symposium is the only program which gives physicians an opportunity to learn from two board-certified dermatologists, who are true experts of the skin and cosmetic injectables. In order to ensure doctors learn the best injection techniques, the botox ® training is done in a medical practice, not in a hotel room chair. In addition, the Symposium does not allow exhibitors, giving physicians more time for education.

Physicians who attend the IAPAM’s Aesthetic Medicine Symposium can revisit their educational experience by using the IAPAM’s NEW 3 comprehensive clinical training DVDs. This DVD set offers focused instruction and demonstrations on Botulinum Toxin (Botox ®) Injection Techniques, Dermal Filler Injection Techniques, Chemical Peel Techniques, and Microdermabrasion Techniques. The three DVD’s cover three key anti-aging treatment areas:

1. Botulinum Toxin for Cosmetic Patients lecture.
2. Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers for Cosmetic Patients - live demonstration.
3. Chemical Peel and Microdermabrasion live demonstration of techniques.

Equally, Symposium attendees receive 16 Cosmetic Practice training DVDs. These resources allow physicians and their staff to re-immerse themselves in the IAPAM’s training at their convenience.

The popularity of the IAPAM’s Aesthetic Medicine Symposium is consistent with the demand by physicians for expert and accredited cosmetic injectable training. Jeff Russell, Executive Director of the IAPAM has witnessed the tremendous growth of minimally-invasive modalities. “We are hearing from our members that minimally invasive procedures like botox ®, dermal fillers as well as microdermabrasion have exploded in demand, and we are seeing a correlating increase in the demand for our botox ® training. Moreover, physicians are realizing they not only need to offer botox ® treatments to their patients, but also laser hair removal, IPL skin rejuvenation, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion, and organizations like the IAPAM educate doctors on how to package treatments for the most appealing and profitable outcomes.”

For additional information and to register for an upcoming Aesthetic Medicine Symposium (December 3-4, 2011 and January 28-29, 2012), please contact the IAPAM at 1-800-219-5108 ext. 704, info@theiapam.com or visit http://www.aestheticmedicinesymposium.com.

Breathing Exercises Are Key to Relieving Stress, Say Experts

Many specialists believe that breathing exercises are essential to relieve stress. Yet reaping their benefits requires recognizing the need for such exercises.

New York, NY - October 26, 2011 -- Many specialists believe that breathing exercises are essential to relieve stress. Yet reaping their benefits requires recognizing the need for such exercises.

Recognizing the true extent of stress in our lives can be difficult,” say boomer generation health experts Dian Griesel, Ph.D., and Tom Griesel, authors of the new book TurboCharged: Accelerate Your Fat Burning Metabolism, Get Lean Fast and Leave Diet and Exercise Rules in the Dust (April 2011, BSH). “If you learn to identify the signs of stress, and nip it by taking a mini (or maxi) relaxation break, the greater your overall health and odds of longevity will be.”

Stress shows itself in classic ways: a headache, stiff neck, nagging backache, rapid breathing, sweaty palms or upset stomach. “If you notice you are getting irritable and less tolerant of minor disturbances, or losing your temper and yelling, you are likely reacting to stress,” Dian notes. Higher pulse, inability to concentrate, jumpiness and constant exhaustion are other clues.

Some of the best breathing exercises, say the Griesels, bring multiple senses into the process of relaxation. One example is “Palming”: Close your eyes and cover with the palms of your hands. Block out all light-but don't add too much pressure on your eyelids. Breathe in deeply to a count of 5. Hold for a count of 5. Release to a count of 5. Repeat.

Another TurboCharged exercise is “Imagining”: Take a deep breath or two. Slowly breathe in to a count of 5, a hold for 5 and a release to a count of about 5. In your mind’s eye, see a mental picture of something relaxing: a stream, mountains, a lake, the ocean, a smiling face, relaxing in the sun, a walk in the woods or a garden. Allow yourself to linger in the image as you breathe deeply. Continue with deep breaths in, a comfortable hold, and a long steady release.

About TurboCharged:
TurboCharged® is a groundbreaking 8-Step program that defies common weight-loss theories. It successfully delivers body-defining rapid fat loss, accelerates metabolism, and improves health and odds of longevity without gimmicks, supplements or special equipment. Common sense and a desire to be lean are all that is required for success at any age. For more information, log on http://turbocharged.us.com/about-2/learn-more/. Zoo Miami celebrates New Solar Array donated by FPL

On Oct. 25, 2011, FPL and Zoo Miami celebrated the unveiling of the first solar array installed on the Zoo grounds, located in the Amazon & Beyond exhibit on top of the trellis area in the main plaza.

Juno Beach, FL - October 26, 2011 -- On Oct. 25, 2011, FPL and Zoo Miami celebrated the unveiling of the first solar array installed on the Zoo grounds, located in the Amazon & Beyond exhibit on top of the trellis area in the main plaza.

Part of FPL’s Next Generation Solar Education Station program, the solar array is a donation from Florida Power & Light Company and the result of a partnership with Zoo Miami and the Zoological Society of Florida to expand the zoo’s green initiatives.

The Zoo Miami Next Generation Solar Education Station features operational solar panels similar to those in service at FPL’s DeSoto Next Generation Energy Center in Arcadia, Fla. The array of photovoltaic panels converts sunlight directly into electricity, producing on average 617 kWh of energy a month, which represents significant savings to the Zoo’s energy costs.

The solar array will also provide school groups and other visitors to the zoo with a hands-on tool to learn about renewable energy.

For the leaders of tomorrow, solar and other clean forms of renewable energy will be a major part of everyday life,” said Manny J. Rodriguez, regional director of external affairs for FPL. “In addition to providing real energy savings for the zoo, the solar array also serves as a science learning tool visitors can enjoy year-round.”

Zoo Miami is a leader in conservation and we see it fitting to partner with FPL in this very exciting project. We are proud and very fortunate to have this partnership with FPL in our efforts to become sustainability leaders among our peers in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums,” said Eric Stephens, Zoo Miami Director.

Zoological Society of Florida President & CEO Benjamin H. Pingree applauds this project and is thrilled to know that FPL is helping the zoo further its conservation efforts. “The solar array will produce enough power to run a computer, dishwasher, microwave oven, refrigerator, television, water heater, clothes washer and dryer all at the same time for one month!”

Market Rates Insight Webinar Reveals Number One Pricing Tactic that Gives Top 150 Banks an Advantage in Deposit Pricing

First in Series of Three Webinars Shows How Fluid Pricing Strategies Offer Smaller Institutions a Competitive Advantage while avoiding pricing errors.

SAN ANSELMO, Calif. (October 25, 2011) -- In the first of a series of educational webinars, Market Rates Insight, Inc. (http://www.marketratesinsight.com), a leading pricing intelligence research firm that tracks rate and banking products for financial institutions, will reveal how top banking institutions use hidden tactics in pricing deposit products, and how smaller institutions can take advantage of these tactics to offer more competitive rates. The first of three free 20-minute executive webinars on The Top Three Deposit Pricing Tactics is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. ET this Wednesday, October 26. Contact pat.townsley@marketratesinsight.com to register.

In this presentation, Pat Townsley, Market Rates Insight’s Vice President of Business Development will demonstrate how smaller financial institutions often view rigid comparative rate data to contrast and compare competitive pricing for their deposit products. This happens when larger banks retire those deposit products and replace them with new products with more profitable terms or tiers, and product misalignment occurs.

To combat these tactics, Mr. Townsley will show how institutions can apply fluid, reporting that follows changing market trends and conditions.

The webinar series is free to any banking executive interested in competitive deposit rate research. For more information about the series and to register for the event, contact Pat Townsley at pat.townsley@marketratesinsight.com.

Brits would rather become a Teacher than switch to any other Job

New research from careers advice and training service oneworklife identifies the careers UK workers most want to switch to.

London, UK, October 25, 2011 -- Given the choice, more Brits would switch to a job in teaching than any other profession, new research from training provider oneworklife has shown.

The survey of over 2000 UK full and part time workers revealed that nearly 1 in 5 (18%) UK workers hate their jobs and when asked what they would like to do instead, a career in education came out on top. Career switches to the fields of IT and Healthcare came in joint second place.

Differences in the responses between men and women also suggest that despite living in an age of supposed gender equality, women are still more drawn to the caring vocations than men.

For men, Information Technology careers would be the most popular move with nearly 12 per cent selecting that as their top option. However, a job in IT appeals to just 3.5 per cent of women.

The difference of opinion between genders is maintained when it comes to jobs in healthcare. 8.3 per cent of women would choose a job in the healthcare sector as opposed to just 4.3 per cent of men.

Jobs in construction didn't prove as popular, only just making it in to the top ten list of most popular career changes coming in behind becoming a farmer or gardener in 9th place and choosing to be a house husband or house wife in 8th place.

Other interesting findings from the survey include:

- The same percentage of respondents wanted to become a celebrity as wanted to join one of the armed forces (1.15%)
- More people wanted to become a professional sports person (2.35%) than work in politics (2.05%)
- Just over 1% of women and 0.5% of men would become a WAG if they could
- 18% of UK workers hate their jobs
- 21% of workers feel trapped in their current jobs
- 9.5% say their current job makes them unhappy even outside of work
- 17% of respondents see themselves as budding entrepreneurs and would like to run their own business rather than switch to any other ‘job’.

Trevor Field of oneworklife commented, “What’s clear from the research is that many British workers feel trapped in unfulfilling jobs or careers. Arizona Taxi/Livery Drivers facing $500 fine Starting November 1, 2011 for Non-Compliance of New Law

Arizona Driver Verify, Inc., provides driver criminal background checks, issuing I.D. Cards and has a web portal for vehicle maintenance records in response to a new Arizona Law.

Phoenix, AZ - October 24, 2011 -- Arizona Driver Verify, Inc., (http://www.azdv.co) provides driver criminal background checks, issuing I.D. Cards and has a web portal for vehicle maintenance records in response to a new Arizona Law.

Since July 20, 2011 a new law has been in place that requires Taxi/Livery companies to have a criminal background check on file for all drivers and for the drivers to have I.D. Present in the vehicle and visible to passengers. The new law also calls for vehicle maintenance records to be kept on file.

Arizona Driver Verify, Inc., founded by former State Trooper Eric D. Ross provides those services and has recently launched a complete web portal in which a company owner can complete the process online. The web portal is a secure site and does not keep the information online once the process in complete.

Ross states, “Some companies have initially told us they will not comply with the new law”, but now that the Arizona Department of Weights and Measures has given a 90 day grace period, we expect an influx of new business, or disgruntled people that have received a $500 fine.

With the violent acts by drivers recently in the Phoenix area including a homicide committed by a driver, the companies will have a better source of screening by using our services and knowing if a driver has, perhaps a violent background. Although the law does not yet have any disqualifiers, more will be added at a later time, but for now the companies can self purge.

The most compliant city has been Lake Havasu City”, states Ross. “The drivers and company owners have a great attitude and welcomed the service, all but one company is in compliance using our service”.

Arizona Driver Verify, Inc. offers a service guarantee, if a driver is our customer and receives a fine based on our error, we will pay the fine. Ross cautions that there are fly by night companies issuing I.D.'s with a stolen State of Arizona Official Seal, which has been referred to the Attorney General Office, and Arizona Driver Verify, Inc. will process those drivers offering a discount if they bring the I.D. Cards.
